  • 13 May 2015 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I stand to support this Bill. Madam Temporary Speaker, I listened to the Senate Majority Leader and the issues he raised. Listening carefully, I looked at where this country has come from and tried to compare it with where we are today. Kenya has travelled through difficult terrains in terms of leadership and administration. Madam Temporary Speaker, it is unbelievable that we can have such a Bill which goes deep inside to allow certain issues to be dealt with; whether passed by the Government, administrators or a group of people that has decided to mistreat a certain ... view
  • 7 May 2015 in Senate: Thank you very much, Madam Temporary Speaker. I stand here to support this Motion. I would like to support it considering the experience I have on such issues and, at the same time, as a businessman. I would like to inform Sen. Anyang’-Nyong’o that what he is seeing now as Kenya Airways is just the face. The inside of Kenya Airways is dead and awaiting to be thrown into the dustbin. When Mr. Naikuni took over as the Chief Executive (CEO) of Kenya Airways that is when members of the public were asked to purchase shares from a company which ... view
  • 6 May 2015 in Senate: Thank you Madam Temporary Speaker. I also rise to support this Bill. According to the Constitution, this is the “Upper House.” However, we are not viewed by Kenyans and by the people we represent as Members of the “Upper House.” Just to add on what Sen. Keter said, I campaigned in a county of eight constituencies. The The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 5 May 2015 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. From the outset, I said I want to try and assist on this issue. It is true that Sen. Sonko wrote to the Speaker requesting to step aside. However, the big question is; did he step aside as the Deputy Chief Whip of the Majority or did he step aside as the Senator for Nairobi County? Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have seen Ministers stepping aside to allow investigations but they do not step aside as Members of Parliament (MPs). My understanding is that Sen. Sonko vacated the office that could ... view
  • 9 Apr 2015 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I do not want to look like I am challenging the ruling of the Chair, but what we should consider is the number of Senators we have here. If you take the number here and give that first 10 minutes, we will still be here at 6.30 p.m., with about 12 Senators to go. So, my suggestion is that we go straight away to five minutes so that we accommodate everybody. view
  • 9 Apr 2015 in Senate: Thank you very much, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. However, I was just pointing out the errors. In mathematics, numbers must add up. If they do not add up, then there is something extremely wrong with these figures. There is Kshs18 billion hidden somewhere. To conclude my contribution, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, just read down there on the “Total Sharable Revenue.” What does that mean? It means that the sharable revenue is Kshs1,242,700,000,000. However, the Chairman, his Committee and the CRA turn around and tell us that audited accounts are Kshs776.9 billion when allocation has already been made. Look at all ... view

  • 9 Apr 2015 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I agree with your advice. I take it seriously. However, let it be noted that what is written in this Report is written and what the Chairman read was a collection of every detail from this Report. If I had the Bill here, I would have talked differently. However, currently, I am dealing with this. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I do not support. view
  • 1 Apr 2015 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wish to thank Sen. Mbura for bringing this Petition. History speaks volumes. Once upon a time, the black man was sold and purchased in the market like a goat or cow. What is happening is slave trade because those who send our children to Saudi Arabia are paid. The question is: Where is the Jubilee Government when this is happening? There is always news in the newspapers, radio and television stations; that our children are being raped and murdered in Saudi Arabia. The Jubilee Government instead keeps issuing passports to our children to travel The ... view
