  • 30 Oct 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I stand to support this Motion. The way the Motion has been framed gives great hope. The Mover of the Motion thought like an African woman, a mother and a grandmother. I am saying so because the need for water in this country speaks volumes. Sen. Kittony must have suffered and witnessed women suffering in this country. Since 1963 when we attained Independence, the blueprint for the then Government of President Kenyatta guaranteed or promised Kenyans that by the year 2000, every household would have tapped water. Up to the time the founding father of ... view

The biggest producer is Nigeria, followed by South Africa and Tanzania. Tanzania is facing the same problems that we are facing here in Kenya. South Africa has surmounted ... view
  • 24 Oct 2013 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. You heard Sen. Kagwe, who is seated ten metres from where I am, saying that the loud consultations were coming from Sen. Muthama. I am seated with my colleagues, the Whip and the Deputy. There are matters that we have to consult on with regard to the leadership of the Senate. Is he in order to identify and pick on me? Can he be asked to withdraw and apologise? view
  • 24 Oct 2013 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I am sure we have all heard Sen. Billow say that the Government is struggling to pay salaries. He is the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Commerce and Economic Affairs and knows very well that the said Government noted that over Kshs300 billion was not spent last year. That is the money that would have been used to cushion and support coffee and tea farmers. Am I order to say that as the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Commerce and Economic Affairs, he should be here to give us ... view

  • 24 Oct 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Motion is not seeking for the Government to purchase coffee and tea and become consumers. It is only when the market is down that the Government puts in money to assist farmers. When the market prices go up, the Government sells those products at a higher price and makes more money --- view
