  • 9 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am not raising the issue of quorum. I am only concerned about the absence of the Cabinet Ministers. That is the only means I can use to get them here. view
  • 9 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support the adoption of this Report. view
  • 9 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Our country is a country of wonders. This is the first case I have seen in my life where you have the accused and there is no accuser. In this Report, the regulator which is the CBK has signed an agreement with the bank to reopen it. In this Report, all concerned authorities have been invited. They have given their testimonies and not a single group has raised a question on this issue. As a businessman, if it is tax evasion, you cannot go and accuse the bank. view
  • 9 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: You should follow Mr. Muthama. The taxman should take his bank’s statements, audits them and if at all I am unable to pay the money, the taxman will freeze my accounts. That is the bottom line. Is this bank being closed because of the instructions of Rannerberger? If that is the position, do we have a free country or are we being ruled by foreigners? There is no single evidence here of a complainant. This is the question that lingers in every Kenyan’s mind. Under whose instruction is the bank being closed? We want to know. We want to be ... view
  • 1 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support the adoption of this Report which was done by the Chairman, Dr. Khalwale and his team. I stand with a very heavy heart after hearing and seeing what has been happening in our country. It is a great shame. This Report takes us back up to 1970s. What has been exposed in this Report is not everything that has been happening on a daily basis. What has been captured here is probably the biggest amount that could be traced quickly. The country is led by Kenyans, the custodians of the ... view
  • 1 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, he has made his point and I do not want to respond to it. I stand on one point here; that seriousness must be shown. It is time we got serious. With regard to what the Chairman of the Committee has said, it is up to the Attorney-General of this country to take action and, truly, prosecute. What the Chairman has said is that, if the Office of the Attorney General is not capable to prosecute those who have committed these crimes against Kenyans, then they should be handed over to KACC. Mr. Temporary Deputy ... view
  • 3 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this issue of hiring this Managing Director has created a lot of interest. The Minister has said here that the salary was one of the issues taken into account. The Minister skipped the first, the second and the third candidate. He went ahead, without consulting the Council, and asking it to resubmit other names if he felt that the first three did not qualify for appointment as Managing Director. We are debating this issue on the basis of being Kenyans and leaders. I want to make it very clear that if the name that we are ... view
  • 3 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we do not want to see impunity, sycophancy and tribalism. We want to see Kenyans being hired through merit. If I am allowed, I would like to table this letter. view
  • 3 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. The letter I tabled here does not talk about Kshs1 million or Kshs900,000. It says that the candidate is flexible, which means the salary can be Kshs300,000 or Kshs200,000. Where does the figure of Kshs1 million come from? Let him state how much the candidate he has picked is earning or has accepted. view
  • 3 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I asked a very specific question to the Minister to clarify what kind of salary the current CEO is earning. The Minister should prove that by tabling here the letter of appointment that shows the salary the new CEO has been offered. The Minister should clarify, deny or confirm that the current CEO is earning over Kshs1.5 million. That can only be contradicted by the letter of appointment if he tables it in this House. view
