  • 23 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Sorry, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I have to protect the others, especially Hon. Chepkut who is nearby. Information is power. We must always have the correct information. We must devolve information. We must promote the culture of reading. We must promote the culture of going to libraries. Our children have become very anti-social. They just watch things on their phones and on television. Our reading culture is getting eroded. We are always told that we must promote this culture because it develops the brain. So, like other speakers, I support the Bill. view
  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the chance to support the Bill. I also commend CIOC and JLAC for coming up with this Bill. We are at the tie-end and we need to test this Bill. I am happy that they have come up with it because, as we are going into this process, we will have something to guide us. I am also happy that within the Bill, the sovereignty of the people is captured. We are talking about a Bill to amend the Constitution through a popular initiative as per Article 257. I am The ... view
  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: happy because the people of Kenya will also have democratic space to participate in a referendum which is well guided by the law. I am a bit concerned about Section 7 as Hon. Millie has said. I do not know whether the Speakers of the two Houses do not receive a response from the county assemblies within the three months stipulated under Article 257 of the Constitution. The Bill will be ‘deemed as not approved.’ I wish we had said that it will be ‘deemed as approved.’ This is so that we give people who are ignorant a chance that ... view

  • 5 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I was just starting to build my case of how wonderful this lady was in navigating through the questions that she was asked. She could answer any question asked with eloquence. She took us through all the issues that the ICJ had raised and she could navigate in a manner that anybody in this Committee was convinced that she was the best placed. She was also placed top position when she was interviewed by the Public Service Commission, she is also the nominee of the President and we all need to support the good things that ... view

  • 23 Jun 2020 in National Assembly: 2. What steps is the relevant Ministry taking to ensure that the 306 missing parcels and the 623 individual missing green cards are found and given to the rightful owners, and by when? 3. When will the relevant Ministry settle and conclude this matter with a lasting solution considering that the conflict between the residents occupying parcels of land and those with illegal title deeds has been persistent for 30 years? 4. What actions are being taken to secure and safeguard public land from being illegally acquired? view
  • 23 Jun 2020 in National Assembly: I hereby table the reports. view
  • 23 Jun 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I also support. I am wondering in the first place, who had brought in that Clause. How do we charge pensioners who have been paying taxes all their time in service? How do we continue milking the old cow? I think it is a very good and wise decision from the Chair, Hon. Limo to remove that Clause. view
  • 23 Jun 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support and congratulate Kenya and our President, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, and the team that saw this through. It is a great achievement. My daughter asked me when I was sitting: view
