  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I sympathize very much with the victims of 2007 elections but I know that our country is beautiful. We have done well or we have reconciled as a country. We have gone through another election and we have seen that we do not need the ICC at all. I think for our Members, we need to get out of this ICC thing and forget about it forever. It is not something that is helpful to our country. Today, during the debate of the Motion of hon. Dr. Laboso, the Deputy Speaker, you could actually see the ... view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, on the second question about hon. Mak’Onyango, I sympathise with him and I hope the Government will do something very quickly to help that gentleman for the work that he has done for our country. I always think that we give more attention to the things that happen in Nairobi and particularly things about people who live in urban areas. However, if you look at the injustices which are done to people who live in rural areas, far flung from the city like Samburu, we forget the injustices that are done there. Three years ago, families ... view
  • 25 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, first of all, I want to thank the Committee that vetted these people. They produced one of the best reports and I think better than my own view
  • 25 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, apart from their accomplished resumes, these gentlemen have done very good jobs in their previous positions. Mr. Teko is an accomplished Economist who understands the problems of water because he comes from a place where there is no water. Mr. Lesiyampe has done an impressive job in the KNH and Ekai has done a very good job in Bangkok. view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I thought I would get enough time. I ran out of a Committee meeting because someone had whispered to me that debate on the girl-child was going on in the House. I left the Committee meeting because that is something which is very dear to some of us. view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, having said so, I must indicate that I am not very impressed with the House today. This is something which is very important. In solidarity with the girl-child, particularly those in ASAL areas, we should have had more hon. Members in the House. I want to salute the hon. Members who are in the House, particularly the ladies; for the passion with which they have debated this matter. view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: For those of us who come from the pastoral areas, there are issues which are very pertinent and special. Some hon. Members would probably require a guided tour on those issues. Talking of ASAL areas, the issue is not just aridity. These are areas which have a lot of insecurity, and where people lead a pastoralist life. The word “pastoralist”, which sometimes sounds strange to some of our colleagues from urban areas, means that during one season you live in one area and in another season you move to another area. Why is that important in terms of having boarding ... view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I came here to add up to quorum because I was told that there was no quorum in the House. view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am sorry but I wanted to state my position, that I support this Motion because my friend hon. Simba opposed it. I want to say that we need part of our friends across our borders to help us do some things because in our country there is the tribe bias. I am sure the people who come from Tanzania and elsewhere are the most impartial people we can have to vet these judges, and so I support. view
  • 12 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Speaker, Sir. While I do not want to undermine the debate on the NYC because it is really important, but when we adjourned the House today, we were debating the Motion on roads which is something that is very dear to some our constituents. I just wanted to know from the Chair whether that debate is still there. Thank you. view
