  • 5 Sep 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, on Thursday, last week, I sought a Ministerial Statement from the Minister for Education, and the Deputy Leader of Government Business gave an assurance to this House that the Minister would deliver the Ministerial Statement by yesterday. This did not happen and, as we all know, the teachers’ strike is on. So, I wanted to get assurance that they will bring the Ministerial Statement tomorrow or later today. view
  • 5 Sep 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I would like to ask the Minister whether they have a comprehensive roads work program for the whole country which can be availed to hon. Members, because some roads even in Kirinyaga Central Constituency are pathetic, especially Kagaita-Kagumo Road. view
  • 30 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to seek for a Ministerial Statement from the Minister for Education on the planned teachers’ view
  • 30 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, it might be overtaken by events because the strike is planned for Monday. MEASURES TO AVERT IMMINENT DOCTORS’ STRIKE view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, first of all, I want to support my colleague, Dr. Bonnie Khalwale, for bringing this good Bill. Yesterday, we were with Mr. Nguyai in Kagumo Market when we were going on an inspection tour. That is the reason I was asked what we are doing about the pyramid schemes and the people who lost money. I support. view
  • 22 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, while I appreciate the comprehensive answer from the Minister, illicit brews in Central Kenya, not only in Kirinyaga, are a menace. What is the Ministry doing? In my district, for example, we do not have a District Commissioner at the moment. However, we know some of the dens but it appears the Ministry does not have enough personnel to address the people who produce the illicit brews. What is the Minister doing to make sure that in conjunction with the local leaders we are able to go round and wipe out all the illicit brews dens? view
  • 22 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, you have heard the Minister say that the arrest of 72 people who prepared this illicit brew is not a small number. I would like to bring to your attention that there is a place called Ngomongo in my constituency, where if we go now, we can arrest more than 100 brewers because they do it in the open. I have tried to pursue it with the District Commissioner (DC) and I am almost giving up. What will the Ministry do about this? view
  • 16 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Education. (a) Is the Minister aware that the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has called for a Special National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on 19th August, 2012 and an Advisory Council meeting on 29thAugust, 2012, intent on calling for a teachers’ strike for lack of implementation of the provisions of Legal Notice No.531 of 1997? (b) What measures is the Minister taking to avert the planned strike? (c) What assurance is the Ministry giving to teachers on payment of allowances to guarantee smooth learning when schools re-open next term? view
  • 16 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have letters written by KNUT and one of them is asking for a NEC meeting on 19th August and the other is asking for an Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday, 29th August. I would like to table these letters so that we can inform the Assistant Minister that the KNUT has called for these two meetings. view
  • 16 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have tabled letters in this House showing that KNUT has called for two meetings on 19th August and 29th August, 2012, respectively. Now that the Assistant Minister is fully informed that the KNUT will convene these view
