  • 8 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, it is also painful to see that in the northern part of our Republic people are dying because of drought and famine, yet in the Central Province and South Rift, farmers’ produce is rotting in the shambas . Surely, if the Government is serious on this issue, it should not be importing food. I have a feeling that Kenyans are capable of producing enough food to sustain themselves. So, let them sit down and see how the food in the southern and central Kenya can be taken to our brothers and sisters in the North Eastern ... view

  • 8 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. Some people tend to think that since they are a little bit privileged, and are normally given time, they can disrupt other peoples’ chances. This is our time. view
  • 8 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: As we go for recess, I have three issues to raise. First of all, I think that the Government has failed Kenyans on the issue of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Now, we are in the fourth year and these people are still in the camps. I take this opportunity to challenge the Government to take this issue very seriously. Let them go out and sort out the genuine and the fake IDPs. Let all the genuine IDPs be resettled. If there are pretenders, then they can be moved from the camps. view

  • 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like, first of all, to thank the Mover of this Motion because this is a national issue that we need to address seriously. It pains me a lot when I see our teachers demonstrating. In actual fact, it is not the teachers who are losing, but it is our children whose lives we are wasting. We are spoiling their future. Surely, it is not the teachers whom we should be condemning. It is the Government; the Government’s failure to act on what it promised wananchi. I feel ashamed to be in this House ... view
  • 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for protecting me. But I would like it to be known and understood by everybody and every Kenyan that, although we are discussing this issue, there are some people who want to get some political mileage out of this issue. The Budget Committee is the one which is given the mandate to sanction the amount of money to be allocated to various Ministries. However, you will agree with me that there are some differences in the Budget Committee. I would request that, as we debate this matter, we put aside out political differences, ... view
  • 30 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware of the existence of some dubious job recruiting agencies who recruit Kenyans to go and work in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon under inhuman conditions? (b) Is the Minister also aware that Ms. Alice Nyamanga Sasati and Ms. Loise Njoki Ng’ang’a, both from Lare Division of Njoro District, are currently stranded and are exposed to servitude in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, respectively, after their travel documents were confiscated? (c) What measures will the Minister take to ensure that ... view
  • 30 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for giving an elaborate answer; since he has accepted that these two ladies from Molo Constituency have been detained in the respective countries, that is Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, could he inform the House what measures the Government is going to take to make sure that Loice Njoki Ng’ang’a and Alice Nyamaganga Sasati from Lare Division are rescued and brought back to the country? view
