  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: to ask the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security:- (a) Could the Minister name the Non-Governmental Organizations and their directors that are circulating leaflets ordering members of a certain community to vacate some areas in Rift Valley Province? (b) Could the Minister consider canceling their licences? view
  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would like to support this Motion and congratulate the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government for doing a good job, although there is a lot to be done. This is because this Ministry covers major towns in our Republic. Majority of these towns are in a deplorable condition. view
  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to start with discipline among the civic leaders. We have seen quarrels in many elections of mayors and chairmen of committees. I do not know what the Minister is going to do to make sure that these councillors hold their elections in a mature way. It is a big letdown to us, as fellow Kenyans and leaders. view
  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Secondly, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as I support this Motion, I have a feeling that there is a lot to be done, especially regarding cleanliness in major towns which are in a deplorable condition. I come from Nakuru and I remember when I was a young boy, we used to be told that Nakuru was one of the cleanest cities in East Africa. But right now if you go there, you cannot believe it; it is in a pathetic situation. I do not know where we went wrong or what happened. I do not know whether it is we, ... view
  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, likewise, you can hardly walk for about 100 metres in major towns without getting a beggar or a disabled person begging. I think we need to change that attitude because we have a lot of visitors who visit our country. The Ministry should liaise with the relevant Ministries and find ways of taking these people off the streets to other places like charitable organizations. view
  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have to address the issue of insecurity. I thank the Ministry of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security for bringing sanity, especially in Nairobi. Some years back, you could not walk even for 100 metres without being mugged or pick-pocketed, but nowadays, things are a little bit better. I would request the Minister and his team to pull up their socks and roll up their sleeves and try to bring sanity in the Ministry. view
  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, with those few remarks, I beg to support this Motion. view
  • 19 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware of people circulating leaflets ordering members of a certain community to vacate Burnt Forest area in Eldoret owing to their stand in the just concluded referendum on the new Constitution? (b) What steps is the Government taking to ensure that the security of the targeted ethnic community is guaranteed? view
  • 19 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: No, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Although he has given an excuse, this Question is very sensitive. I would request the Assistant Minister to hurry up and come and tell the House the measures they will take because right now, there are some people in a certain part of the Rift Valley who are leaving their homes where they had resettled. At the same time, there are some senior politicians who are going round in the Rift Valley threatening some communities and telling them that they are not supposed to be there. So, I would request the Assistant Minister to hurry ... view
  • 19 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, while I commend the Assistant Minister for giving a satisfactory statement, I would request him, if possible, to name those NGOs and Community Based Organizations (CBOs). If possible, could he also name the directors of those NGOs, so that they can be known and apprehended? We know very well what happened in 2008. In the whole Republic, we voted wisely and openly, but how come it is only in the Rift Valley where some few individuals are threatening members of other communities? view
