  • 1 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the amendment on Article 260 was intended to create and include the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly and his Deputy into the State Offices. Given the importance of our Speaker; being the person in control of this country, I thought it was very important that we looked that section. However, looking at the mood of the House, it looks like nothing will go through. I now withdraw that amendment. view
  • 30 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Trade:- (a) how the World Bank ranks Kenya on business friendliness and ease of doing business; (b) why Kenya was ranked so low in areas of property registration, starting of a business and getting credit; and, (c) what the Government is doing to improve in “a” and “b” above? view
  • 30 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am looking at the figures of the World Bank Report in 2008. We were ranked No.72 in the world. In 2009, we were ranked No.84 and now we are ranked No.95. This is a big drop. Could the Minister explain to this House or at least to the common Kenya, why we are sliding down the lane and the rest of the world is catching up and passing us? view
  • 23 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Ministry of Roads knew that there was a lot of focus on El Nino rains. I am sure in our country there are so many bridges that are destabilized and many culverts washed away because of El Nino rains. Did the Ministry prepare for this eventuality this time and how much money do they have to cater for this? Are there any emergency funds set aside for such occasions? view
  • 10 Dec 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Environment and Mineral Resources:- (a) whether he could indicate to what extent the emission of greenhouse gases is causing climate change and increase in temperature; (b) whether he could confirm or deny that Mount Kenya glacier is shrinking every year due to increase in temperatures; and, (c) whether the Government, in collaboration with the other developed nations, could adopt necessary measures to check emission of greenhouse gases. view
  • 10 Dec 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, climate change is a very serious issue in the world. As a country, we have heavy losses in every sector I look at. Every Kenyan needs to be sensitized on the effects of climate change. What is the Ministry doing to make sure that every Kenyan knows what is happening? What procedures are put in place to make sure every single household preserves water, electricity and many other resources? view
  • 10 Dec 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, in today’s environment, there is something called Carbon Credit Points (CCP). Most countries in the world that live to the climate’s global warming benefit from that. This country has only one company that benefits from CCP; Mumias Sugar. What is this Ministry doing to make sure that most companies in this country end up getting CCP in international world? view
  • 1 Dec 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Housing what action he is taking to assist Kenyans who are unable to obtain housing loans from commercial banks. view
  • 1 Dec 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Minister for an excellent answer. Considering that we have 5.4 million people in this country living in slums and informal settlements, what is the Government’s direct role in giving incentives to co-operatives, private foundations and NGOs to direct more resources to the housing market? view
  • 1 Dec 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Minister again. Considering the fact that housing in this country is in a crisis, and considering the fact that countries like India and Bangladesh have developed a research unit within the concerned Ministry, is the Government willing to start a research unit that will not only make people afford homes but also make them access cheap building materials? view
