Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker, for giving me a chance to make my contribution. Before I make my comments, I want to thank you for your leadership in this House. I have been here for quite long and have seen you truly deserve that post.

I also want to thank the President for the measures he has taken to protect this country. Although some of us are complaining, if you look at what is happening in this country and compare with Europe, you will see we are performing much better than them and the Americans. We have not reached the numbers we were worried about. If Kenyans had followed the directives of the President, we would not have reached the rate of 26 per cent. Therefore, I want to urge Kenyans to wear masks. Hon. Speaker, it is good you were with the religious leaders ...

Hon. Speaker, Gatanga is known. Our number one cash crop is music. You know the greatest musicians in what used to be known as “Central Province” come from Gatanga. Hon. Speaker, I know you enjoy music from our county and one of these days we are going to make you an elder. As the Njuri Ncheke made you an elder, we are also going to participate in that development. We are also going to sing for you a song which you can use to market yourself. Our great musicians like Peter Kigia and DK have nowhere they can showcase their ...

Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for clarifying that. In fact, I want to congratulate the Leader of the Majority Party for dropping what was proposed to be done by the NCA. As a professional in that sector, some of those rules are not acceptable and we have even challenged them in court. Thank you very much, Leader of the Majority Party. I also want to support the Business Laws (Amendment) (No.2) Bill especially when it comes to ease of registering a business. Before, it was very difficult even just to register a mere company, but now doing ...

structural department and still pay money to the roads section and the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA). Even when you start building, you will still require a holding permit and a signboard permit. These are things which we need to look at holistically because when an investor comes here, they cannot understand. To improve our ease of doing business, these are some of the things we need to look at. I really support this idea of doing away with companies seal. This is very old technology. I have never understood why we have ever needed a company seal. So, I ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. If that is the mood of the House, then I do not need to contribute. However, Members, can you allow me to speak for a minute in summary?

I thank the Committee for the good Report which they have produced. Looking at the contract agreement between GBHL and KPA, in terms of fairness, I can say it is one-sided. In terms of time, the contract period which was given is very lengthy. The price which has been charged compared to what KPA is getting is nothing. The annual licence fees paid by GBHL is very little money amounting to Kshs500,000. This is very little money for that kind of income which they are earning. If you look at the cargo which they are ferrying, you can see we ...

not been communicated to us. For PPP, we need to have very clear rules. This particular unit as set at the National Treasury cannot give us projects which are competitively designed and priced. As a country, we will continue implementing expensive projects, our people will continue suffering and we pay money for nothing.
