  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I come from Murang’a County where most local banks started from. Those banks have been built by ordinary Kenyans - the ordinary tea grower, coffee farmer, avocado farmer, milk farmer and banana farmer. They are the ones who have really supported those banks. From those banks, has emerged one of the biggest banks in this country called Equity Bank. It is not only Equity Bank, but there are other smaller banks which are coming up like the Amica Savings and Credit Cooperative, Murata SACCO and many other banks which I will not be able ... view
  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: and I would like to say that my mother was not poor. When I hear people despising my mother, I normally get very bitter because those small businesses have built this country. They are not gangsters or fraudsters. These are people who work very hard. I grew up in a family of nine and my mother, who used to sell vegetables, was able to take us to good schools. All my siblings and I went to school. So, I would advise leaders not to despise our people by showing them that they are nothing. People have risen from those small ... view
  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: I really want to encourage our youths that not all of us can go to university. This Government has done a lot. We have built the Technical, Industrial, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TIVET) colleges and youth polytechnics. I would like to encourage our youths to join those polytechnics in their local areas and become that carpenter, plumber and electrician we are lacking in this nation, I can assure them that even with that local training, they can grow to be big persons. I used to be a consultant before I transformed myself into a contractor. What motivated me is that, ... view
  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. From the outset, I support the amendments. I have heard the Chair say that it is the young who are affected. However, it is not only the young who are affected by the digital lending, but even mature people and Members of Parliament here are also affected and cannot claim that we do not borrow from the platforms. The digital lending has facilitated very easy borrowing at a very high cost and we are opening up very many applications where you can borrow from one platform to pay to the other. Credit lines are ... view
  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Otherwise, if we continue with this, we will kill generations and put them in debts which they will not pay for a long time. With those few remarks, I support. view

  • 6 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to also make my contribution. At the outset, I support the implementation of these Regulations. I am very happy with the inclusion of Gatanga which is only about 80 kilometres from Nairobi. From Central region, I can say that we are the only constituency which has been included. I want to say that it is not only pastoralists who are marginalised, as Hon. Duale was saying. Even some of us who come from nearby constituencies, if you visit them, you will be surprised. Gatanga, despite supplying Nairobi with water ... view
  • 6 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: projects among the 14 counties, it is approximately 25 projects per county with a pending bill of Kshs1.2 billion. This is unfair to Kenyans. When we start selecting new projects, we should be careful. We do not need to do very many projects. There is no need of initiating projects which will have pending bills which will not benefit the constituencies. I also want to ask the commission which will come into place to manage resources properly, like we do with the NG-CDF. I have seen the Report is saying that we should not adopt the NG- CDF model. The ... view
  • 30 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker for giving me a chance to make my contribution. You are a great beneficiary of our cash crop which is music. view
  • 30 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Gatanga is known for producing a great number of musicians from Central Province. We have over 3,000 registered musicians. We have produced great stars like the late John De’ Mathew, Peter Kigia, Timona Mburu, Kariuki wa Kiarutara, Daniel Kamau (DK), Wamuge, Gachathi wa Thuo, Njeri wa Gatanga and Kui K. When these payments were made, I want to confess that people did not benefit. I have looked at the list which was given by the Chairman of the Committee and I have seen all the musicians who were paid Kshs10,000. They should have categorised them. When the President said that ... view
