  • 14 Sep 2017 in National Assembly: Turning to the President’s Address to the 12th Parliament, I must say it was a good one. At least, it was an address that was geared towards peace, security and prosperity of this country. I want to thank the President for being a very humble man; a sign and symbol that unifies us. • 14 Sep 2017 in National Assembly: operates under very tough conditions and he is the only President whose election has been overturned. I want to touch on a few issues where I do not agree with the judgment of the Supreme Court because they made a decision that will have great repercussions in this country. If you remember, the Chief Justice said that an election is not an event but a process. The petition was about that event of 8th August 2017. It is not the process because the whole process started a long time ago. In that, he erred and that is why we cannot ... view
  • 14 Sep 2017 in National Assembly: I also want to touch a bit on the independent institutions we have in the country. It has taken us time to come up with independent institutions. They have to be independent and seen to be so. They must appreciate their independence. However, if they allow them to be interfered with by external forces, then they cannot say that they are independent. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is supposed to conduct free and fair elections. I remember that immediately after that judgment by the Supreme Court, the chairman of IEBC held a Press conference and said he would invite ... view
  • 14 Sep 2017 in National Assembly: The constituency I represent was once represented by a great man in this country, Professor George Saitoti, who once said, “There comes a time when a country is greater than an individual.” We have allowed the leader of the Opposition to continue misleading this country. What he is now doing is radicalising other Kenyans to behave like him. If you listen to the pronouncements that are being made by other Members of Parliament in this country, for example, the Member of Parliament for Embakasi East, Babu Owino and others… He is also going to an extent of radicalising women. I ... view

  • 17 May 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this chance to contribute and support this very important Bill. I want to support the Kenya Trade Remedies Bill 2017, whose main objective is to protect the domestic industries from unfair competition from either the East or Western side. It is a very essential document at this point in time because we have to protect our industries. This will create jobs for our young people. We have to make sure that we create jobs in this country because we have so many people who are unemployed. We can only employ them ... view

  • 17 May 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you. I was just trying to say how much we have deviated. The reason why we say we were at par with the Asian tigers is because we lost the game when we killed our industries by not protecting them. Remember the tea industry was employing so many people. We had the coffee and the pyrethrum industries. They were employing about 300,000 people every year. We lost it. We lost the coffee and sisal industries. We used to grow them in large numbers. We lost them because we did not protect them. This is the Bill that will protect ... view

  • 10 May 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this chance to support this important amendment. Just as food is a basic need for human life, security is a basic need for a country to develop. It is such basic that if a country does not have good security, it will hardly develop because investors cannot invest in that country. Our police forces have the responsibility of enforcing security in our country. Therefore, it is paramount that they are properly compensated in case of injury or death in service. They should be paid good salaries and allowances for the good ... view
