The lease was signed in 1920 and it is supposed to expire in 2921. About 909 years are remaining. What factors did the Government consider when coming up with these figures, considering that there are many years before the lease expires? These are poor farmers. view

  • 20 Sep 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, while appreciating the contribution by the Minister and “Her Excellency”, we are giving a blanket cheque to the people who are going to be the custodian of the resultant Act. They might misuse it. We have seen many cases of people using their offices to settle scores or carry out vendetta. So, it is important, if someone has to be searched or arrested, that the officer concerned is required to go to court and seek a warrant of arrest, so that the other party can also be given a fair hearing. view
