  • 28 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Chairlady, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 16 of the Bill be amended in sub-clause (3) by- (b) inserting the word “and” immediately after the word “deposits” in paragraph (b). (c) inserting the following new paragraph immediately after paragraph (b) “(c) the criteria for reviewing the status of a mineral to establish if it is a strategic mineral”. view
  • 28 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: I am calling for the insertion of this new paragraph by keeping in mind that strategic minerals now may not be strategic minerals for social economic development and national security purposes in the future. The law should not be rigid. It should be flexible. It is, therefore, important that we give room for the review and classification of strategic minerals. view

  • 28 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Chairlady, I beg to move:- THAT clause 26 of the Bill be amended in sub-clause (3) by inserting the word “relevant” immediately after the words “holds a” appearing in paragraph (a). The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 28 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Chairlady, the reason as to why I am inserting the word “relevant” is because the word “degree” has been provided for, so that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Mining Corporation will understands this sensitive field. As the CEO, he or she will require the technical know-how to steer the corporation to great heights. So, we cannot just talk of “any degree”; it has to be a relevant degree. view
