  • 10 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is very important that when issues of such magnitude and significance to this country are raised by Members of Parliament, even if they accuse each other, it is not enough for them to just apologise and withdraw the remarks they have made. They should actually substantiate those remarks. If Mr. ole view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Motion. As a member of the AMANI Forum, I appreciate the leadership of that organisation. The forum brings together Parliamentarians from the Great Lakes Region. It is very important because that region faces numerous challenges, especially political, and which need political solutions. When the AMANI Forum is affiliated to Parliament, it will achieve two things: First, it will give greater legitimacy to the forum. It will provide the necessary basis for the forum to be appreciated more by the Government. That is because it will be composed of the representatives of ... view

  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: 2934 gave a message emanating from the Republic of Kenya through a peace-maker. She is doing a lot of work in Kapenguria, where I have been with the Chairman of the AMANI Forum. She has put a lot of efforts in Mount Elgon this year, last year and the preceding years. Tegla had made a lot of efforts in Karamojong’, across the border in Uganda. She has even been received by the First Lady of Uganda, Madam Janet Museveni and the President, hon. Museveni, himself. Therefore, it is important for that Forum to be regularized in Parliament, so that it ... view

  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: 2935 Member of Parliament for Eldoret East. I know the efforts that you have made in your constituency to bring people together. You have even invited many other people. I would urge all of us, wherever we are, to be tolerant and accommodative. The time of monologue and one tune is long gone. This is not a one party State anymore. It is a country of multiplicity of ideas and diversity of opinions. We must shape the ideas of this country to compete in a way. That is why we, sometimes, get disappointed when we hear some people talking about ... view
  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I wish to support this Vote by first wishing the Ministry all the best as they set the programme in finalizing the national census which will be very important to planning and putting resource allocation systems in an equitable and accessible manner. We want to raise justified issues that need to be considered by this Ministry as a way of instigating or putting a system that can fast-track the Vision 2030, of which they are also in charge. First is the need to have an open Cabinet week in this country so that in every quarter ... view
  • 6 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for the chance to support this Motion and to acknowledge that the Ministry is making some positive efforts to ensure that the transport network and also the diversification of the different roads is in better form. This Vote needs to be endorsed by our standing to also endorse their request for funding. view
  • 6 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Good news coming from this Ministry; the expansion of the Kisumu Airport, the proposed up-grading of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and the new port in Mombasa are programmes that are also inviting good attention to our country, especially from other countries who want to invest here. When we have nice airports and landing areas for our planes, tourism will benefit. Also our horticultural sector will benefit. Therefore, this Ministry is very key to ensuring that we fast-track the Vision 2030. It affects all the other Ministries because with a good transport system, other things are going to roll in ... view
