  • 19 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: What we need to do is for the Ministry of Health to come up with a policy that can make these forms free of charge when they are filled by the MOHs. The Jubilee Government has given free maternity healthcare to mothers. Therefore, the same policy can be developed at the Ministry level. These forms should be filled absolutely free of charge by the MOHs. This can still be channelled through the county assemblies as other colleagues have put it because it is their responsibility now that healthcare is devolved. It is the responsibility of county assemblies to enact laws ... view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also want to comment on this Petition by Hon Birdi. The SGR is a very noble project in this country. So far, I am aware that the project was stopped in that section of Narok. It is important that both parties expeditiously and amicably resolve the issues surrounding that project so that it can continue. On the second prayer by the Petitioner about healthcare of the workers, it is important that those people should adhere to the occupation health and safety regulations which are part of our law so that the laborers or people working ... view

  • 18 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I also want to support this amendment from the Senate. Traditionally, those people who actually perform these traditional rites, most of them have never been to school. Even the traditional medicinemen, since time immemorial were wazees in the villages who had no certificates. This amendment is catering for these classes of people. Now that I have the microphone, allow me to recognise the two schools from my constituency. view
  • 10 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also want to comment on this important Petition by Hon. Shinali. Tourism in western Kenya is very important. As we try to improve tourism in this country, this is an area which should not be ignored. Kakamega Forest is another example of an equatorial rain forest which can be found in the Congo Basin. Therefore, when this airstrip is completed, that region will have an improved tourism industry. As this Committee summons the Cabinet Secretary (CS) and his team, it is important for the Ministry to give an update of the airstrips in this country. ... view

  • 4 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: I have lived in Nakuru Town and it is the way it is because of such great leaders. Hon. Mwithaga has played a key role in the development of Nakuru Town and its environs. Besides being an astute politician and leader, he had also excelled in business. He has business empires in Nakuru Town. He assisted very many businessmen who were starting their lives. Nakuru Town is doing well. I even remember when Nakuru Town was the cleanest town in East Africa. This can be attributed to the efforts that were made by Hon. Mwithaga and a clique of leaders ... view

  • 3 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I support the amendment as moved by the Chair of the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade. On this detail, I wish he could also include qualifications in terms of experience of the Controller of Budget as 3(1)(e) because it is just left open. A person with one year’s experience after school can qualify. Also, with regard to the amendment to Clause 3(2), I am worried why he should state the reasons why one should not be appointed. There are so many reasons besides those ones listed which could disqualify a person from ... view
