  • 29 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: I think I have the microphone now, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Thank you very much for this opportunity to briefly comment on this very important Motion because I believe in it and from the outset I would like to support this Motion. I do not want to belabour the points because they have been made; they have talked of the advantages to Kenya. These are enhanced trade and investments, reduction in foreign exchange risks, increased efficiency and a wider market and having the issue of price comparisons which will act as an advantage to traders and consumers. We have heard ... view
  • 29 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker In order to iron out some of these problems that we envisage, there will be regulatory agencies that will sort them out such as the East African Monetary Institute, the East African Surveillance, Compliance and Enforcement Commission, the East African Bureau of Statistics and the East African Financial Services. However, because of the enhanced trade and a population of 180 million people, as opposed to the 40 million people that we have in Kenya, it means that because Kenya is dominant in various fields, we will have a bigger market. It means we can go and ... view
  • 13 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you hon. Speaker for this opportunity. I would like to thank the Chairperson for Departmental Committee on Heath for the detailed and positive response to our request. Salgaa-Eldoret Road has for a long time become a menace both to motorists not only in Rongai but also to anybody travelling to Eldoret, Kisumu or to the western part of Kenya. I would like the National Treasury and the Ministry of Health--- I hope the response that construction will begin in 2015/2016--- If it is done then, there is nothing more to say, just to be grateful to the National Treasury ... view
  • 12 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker, for this opportunity. It is a constitutional right for anyone to petition Parliament on any particular issue. This petition against me is from Mr. Luka Kigen. I take my parliamentary work very seriously. If there are times when I missed being in Parliament, I will answer questions to the satisfaction of the relevant Committee. Thank you for the opportunity and I will clear this. view
  • 5 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. The Geothermal Development Corporation is very busy extracting power from Rongai Constituency in Nakuru County. A regulated mining sector is good for this country, because it will avoid the pitfalls of other mineral-rich countries; it should not bring environmental conflict and social decay. Therefore, because of the replacement of the previous Mining Act of 1940 with the current Mining Bill of 2014--- We believe enacting this Bill will attract investors into this country, who will then process these minerals, add value and trade in them. Kenyans will benefit in ... view
  • 2 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to ventilate on this issue of the scrap metal. The consideration of this Bill is timely because of the need to rein in unscrupulous metal traders. We have had a lot of vandalism and theft with regard to metal because traders want to make a quick buck. They steal public infrastructure. In 2010, the Ministry of Trade banned export of scrap metal from Kenya. This was an attempt to curb the destruction of public infrastructure. The ban did not help much. Currently, anyone can sell scrap metal to any ... view
  • 2 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: penalties will aid in bringing the unscrupulous traders to book. I support this Bill. I support its intentions. However, we need to make those small amendments. That way, the passage of this Bill will be very timely. view
  • 1 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, very much. I wish to request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Health. view
  • 1 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: I am seeking a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Health regarding the construction of Level 5 hospital at Salgaa as promised by hon. Mwai Kibaki, the retired President in the year 2010. Thank you. view
  • 1 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: That is acceptable. Thank you. view
