  • 13 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: As highlighted by the Chair and the rest of the membership there are a number of observations and recommendations which are of immense importance to the respective corporations. I believe that the PIC of the 11th Parliament has set high standards as far as examination of accounts is concerned. I believe those who will be privileged to serve in this Committee in the 12th Parliament will have a tall order as far as running and examining the accounts of the various parastatals is concerned. I have enjoyed working with this team and I want to appreciate the entire membership, staff, ... view

  • 9 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Committee that the Report was tabled on 30th April 2014. This is worrying. Perhaps a number of its recommendations might have been overtaken by events. Since the NSSF is a very important Fund, I hope the recommendations from the Committee will be taken seriously for the benefit of the people of Kenya. The NSSF is as old as independent Kenya. Therefore, this is a Fund that Kenyans expect to be performing very well for the benefit of pensioners. A number of such Funds, globally, such as Malaysia and our neighbour Tanzania, are doing very well to the extent that they ... view
  • 19 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Motion. Let me start by thanking the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade, which is chaired by my good friend, Hon. Benjamin Langat. Having gone through the Report of the Committee, I realised that, indeed, the Committee has done a good job. All the nominees have a wealth of experience and are well trained. As the Committee has indicated, they are suitable for that job. The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) needs qualified, experienced and well trained individuals. In that sense, it is my view that the Committee has ... view
  • 6 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also rise to support this Motion. I want to thank the Chairman of the PIC and its Members. Being a Member of the PIC, I want to congratulate my colleagues. We have done a wonderful job. As the majority of Members have alluded to, we have done a perfect job as far as those particular parastatals are concerned. In these particular Reports, we have made a number of recommendations that are worth following up. I support the Motion. view
  • 30 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I rise to oppose this amendment. Hon. Kang’ata has executed it very well. Should this particular amendment be supported, we are going to kill our farmers who grow sorghum. I oppose the amendment. view
  • 24 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I rise to support this Motion. In my view, even though my good friend, Hon. Peter Kaluma opposes some sections of the mediated Bill, I still find it to be good for this country. Clause 72 of this mediated version of the Bill gives some life to this Bill. It says that any register maintained under this section shall be open for inspection by the members of the public at the Office of the Chief Conservator of Forests. This Clause is very important. We have been facing a number ... view
  • 24 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Bill. I do not want to dwell so much on what has been said by my colleagues. The backbone of this Bill is research and development. We must allocate funds for that vote-head. A number of people have been speaking about the marginalised areas and communities. One of the areas of interest to me and, perhaps, to others – and that is an amendment I would wish to propose to this Bill – is the creation of county universities. In the rest of the world like in America, India and ... view
