Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No. 56(1)(b) to make a Statement on the activities of the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare for the period commencing 1st July, 2023 to 30th November, 2023. During the period under review, the Committee held a total of 63 sittings, considered two Bills, six Petitions and 64 Statements. The Committee also considered two legislative proposals. Onyonka, I beg to give Notice of the following Motion- THAT, AWARE of the crucial role played by indigenous trees in purification of air and combating of climate change, protection against floods and water pollution, in the field of medicine, nutrition and timber production, among other roles; APPRECIATING that the national Government, through the National Landscape and Ecosystem Restoration Programme, plans to increase the national forest cover to 30 per cent by planting 15 billion trees and, in furtherance of the
