  • 14 Feb 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I beg to lay the following Paper on the table of the Senate today, Wednesday, 14th February, 2018. This is a Report of the Senate delegation to the women political leaders meeting. It is an Annual Global Summit that was held in Reyjavik, Iceland from 28th November 2017 to 30th November 2017. view
  • 14 Dec 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I also rise to support this Motion. Indeed, this is a very emotive Motion. First, I thank Sen. Khaniri for bringing this great Motion. I support this Motion with amendments because nowhere in the world will anybody be an implementer and at the same time audit themselves. Many of the Senators who have spoken are of the idea that we could have a committee that is thoroughly going to look at these audit issues. We are all products of an education system. If it was not for a proper education system, we would not ... view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in Senate: Thank you very much, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also rise to condole with the family of the Nyeri County Governor, Dr. Wahome. I personally had not known Dr. Wahome, but it so happened that I got to know about him yesterday in the media when he was leading a pack of eight governors to revive the Laikipia-Isiolo railway. I said, this is a great man, and he spoke with passion on how that railway line was going to reduce poverty in that region. We have lost a great leader. From the description that has gone out, this country has lost ... view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in Senate: Thank you very much, Madam Temporary Speaker. I rise to support this Motion because of a number of reasons. One, that proper waste management would provide or lead to a clean environment that every one of us would like to live in. Maybe ahead of time, I want to thank Sen. Kihika for bringing such a Motion. Poor waste management could end up affecting both human and animal lives in the following ways. One, in terms of human beings, it would lead to diseases such as view

  • 10 Oct 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Motion. I listened to Sen. Mwaura presenting this Motion with a lot of emotions and I learned that there is some sun screen oil that is very expensive. I know of some persons living with disabilities who got it in their advanced age and they face a lot of challenges in daily lives. Many times, they have to beg for money to cater for their medical care and buy food. Many of them come from disadvantaged backgrounds. view
  • 28 Sep 2017 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I rise to support the Motion on the select Committee on Election Laws (Amendment) Bill No. 3 of 2017. This is based on three or four major reasons. First, when I was coming to this House this afternoon, I realized that the people in this city were not able to move around freely. This is because they were worried that they could be easily hurt or attacked. What was going on in the city is a product of the nullified election. I want to say that the nullification of election that took place in ... view

  • 28 Sep 2017 in Senate: Thank you very much, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, this Committee will ensure that in future we are not going to face such a challenge as the one that we have just experienced recently. The IEBC right now are supposed to put in place a very water tight system. They cannot do that without any. This Senate Committee will ensure that in future, our election procedures will not bring about the annulment of elections. Over time, if it were not for amendment of laws, a Senator like me would not be in this House. It is out of this amendment that ... view
