  • 30 Mar 2021 in Senate: take up the challenge and ensure that work is done just like the ad hoc Committee used to. view
  • 30 Mar 2021 in Senate: During that time, we could follow keenly about the thematic areas. They were able to inform us what was happening in security and other social issues. In this case, there is nothing wrong for the Committee on Health to take it up and be informing us how much money is sent to the counties or even how Kshs241 billion is being used. view
  • 30 Mar 2021 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I support this particular Motion based on the counties that have been locked down because the numbers are increasing. Maybe the situation is the same in other counties, but the situation is serious in the five counties. The Government should increase testing of the people in the five counties. In addition to that, people should be vaccinated. view
  • 30 Mar 2021 in Senate: When one million doses of the vaccine were brought, we thought they would be over in less than one month. However, people are approaching it with a lot of caution. We encourage people that vaccination is important because without vaccination, very many people will die. Counties that have received the vaccine should vaccinate people. We also encourage the Government to consider the needy and vulnerable people in the five counties so that they are vaccinated. view
  • 24 Mar 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to support this Motion. It is important for us to adjourn because this third wave is severe and serious. Every day, we are being given statistics of people who have passed on. We take it as statistics, but those are fathers, mothers, children, leaders or health workers that the country has lost. When the first wave was here, we were serious in terms of observing the protocols and the lockdowns. That time much of the cases were within the big towns. Right now, it is in the villages and as most of ... view
  • 23 Mar 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I also take this opportunity to support this Motion of extension of time to the Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights. What we are speaking to right now is a very contentious issue or a very weighty matter. The reason we have The Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020 is the fact that this country has had many challenges. First, when it comes to elections and even revenue sharing. When we talk of constituencies, we are talking about revenue sharing. That is why an additional 70 constituencies have been proposed. In addition ... view
  • 23 Mar 2021 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, this Parliament has survived by a whisker. It would have been disbanded had the President taken up the advice of the former Chief Justice. We have to speak to these matters critically so that in future, Parliament will not be left out. I do not understand the reason why we have a joint Committee speaking about two different dates; one is talking about 1st of April and another one 6th of April 2021. They should have agreed on one date. The date that has been proposed by the Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights ... view
  • 4 Mar 2021 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I also support this Motion for Adjournment. This is a good time for us to go back home and think over some of the issues we have been experiencing of late. Right now the House is almost half empty. That period is enough. By the end of two weeks, most of us will have cleared a number of issues. We have been having by-elections. As a result, our colleagues have been going out. It is unfortunate that by-elections are heated up to the extent that a number of vehicles are being damaged. I saw a clip of ... view
  • 3 Mar 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Petition. We are not blowing trumpets here, but we in the Committee on Labour and Social Protection have been ensuring that we take up an issue to its logical conclusion. Sen. Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. will bear me witness that I informed them about the water issue between Kajiado and Makuen counties. We were able to solve that issue. As I speak, something has been done to those employees. I think the one of Kenya Railways was the most difficult one and we managed to solve it. It is unfortunate ... view
  • 3 Mar 2021 in Senate: Standing Committee on Lands, Environment and Natural Resources concerned with this Petition will look for a way out. Maybe they can combine a number of these petitions, look at similar questions and call on board the concerned people. Today, in the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, we had up to five groups, the National Treasury, Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) and others. The House was so full and one could get scared on how we were going to solve the issues. However, we were very keen because the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare is normally fully attended ... view
