  • 12 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: in arms there to help to stabilise Somalia. The direction we need to take is to help them get a stable central government. It is not worth putting up a wall. Right now, listening to the news about the border between Mexico and USA, the current USA Government desires to put up a wall. However, the position of that country is that many people are not for it. I see this as replica of Israel because they have a problem with Palestine. We do not have such a problem with Somalia. In India, they have a problem with Pakistan, sometimes ... view
  • 5 Dec 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to contribute to this Bill. From the outset, I support the Bill as it is presented. Of course, we are going to have amendments. In this nation of ours, we have had NYS from Independence and over those many years, we had it transform into various forms. I want to say that over that period of time, we have had very huge investments in the NYS. Even though what happened last year was a very bad thing, it is only reasonable to think about how to prevent such things ... view
  • 5 Dec 2018 in National Assembly: to formal employment in the forces and in Government bodies. It is better to train them in skills that will make them self-employed. The process of youth recruitment into the NYS is balanced regionally and I do not think it is good for the forces to go out there and look for other people. The best thing to be done, as has been said by one of the speakers, is to allow the forces to take as many NYS graduates as possible instead of going out there to recruit people who have not been in the NYS. It should be ... view
  • 5 Dec 2018 in National Assembly: With the creation of a council, there will be no selective use of resources by people in power to engage in mischief or use it for their own ends. With those many remarks, I want to stop there. I urge every Member to support this Bill. We should also come up with proper amendments to make the institution work better for Kenyans. view
  • 4 Dec 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this chance. At the outset I want to support the adoption of this Report together with the recommendations. This is a model hospital of its kind. It was a hospital built with funds from Exim Bank of China at a cost of Kshs8 billion which is a loan and we are supposed to start paying it from 2019. Unfortunately, the hospital is not yet operational. In fact, it is important for Members to note that the loan repayment will not be done by Treasury but by Kenyatta University or ... view
  • 4 Dec 2018 in National Assembly: This hospital will also reduce the pressure on Kenyatta Hospital because Kiambu and other counties to the east of Nairobi will have another point where they can take their patients. view
  • 4 Dec 2018 in National Assembly: I would like to say that even in my county, many people would have benefited from this facility. This facility should have been operational by now. The other thing that we have recommended as a Committee is that running this hospital should not be done like the models of KNH and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH). This one being in the university should be run by the university management and not by the ministry or parastatal. This is because from the history of this country, the KNH and MTRH have not been very remarkable in terms of providing services. view
  • 4 Dec 2018 in National Assembly: We have also recommended that this hospital should be run by the university just like in any other place in the world. That way they can give quality services. Everywhere in the world such as Europe, North America and other parts, university teaching hospitals are where the great people in the country including ministers, presidents and senior Government civil servants go. We would like to use this facility as a model, to be a teaching and referral hospital. We are supposed to pay this loan from the funds that will be generated from the hospital totalling to Kshs88.7 billion and ... view

  • 13 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me chance to contribute to this very topical issue. First of all, I want to take this opportunity to applaud His Excellency the President for banning importation of fish from China. The areas that do fishing are the coastal areas and the lake region. There are also many other places where fishing is done specifically in the water The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
