  • 6 Aug 2019 in National Assembly: Meru County never used to be considered for anything to do with hardship. Now it features in hardship and drought areas. Meru used to be ignored totally because it is next to Mount Kenya. It used to be taken that there is adequate rain. You know, with rain, there is plenty of food. All other working environments also used to be conducive. However, if you go to that area now, you will appreciate that it is so much drought-stricken that we are now begging for food the way people in North-Eastern and Turkana regions of this country used to beg. ... view
  • 3 Jul 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I rise to oppose the amendment. If the amendment is carried, it will reduce the co-opted members to be of no value. They may have more knowledge that is almost equal to the contribution of the points which will be discussed by the commissioners. It is always good when they are there so that they can add value to the contributions of the Commission. They can be given a chance to vote. When they have no vote, it then means they will sit on the Commission as statues with no value. This amendment should be ignored ... view
  • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, as I said earlier, I support the President’s Speech which talked of a very strong nation. The speech dealt strongly with the Big Four Agenda which is the promise of the President to have a legacy to leave to the Kenyans by the time he retires in 2022. view
  • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: There are a number of promises which were made by the President when he was campaigning. There are some roads which he promised that they would be tarmacked in my constituency. As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of this country, a word from the President is taken to be binding. It is a directive from the President. If there is nothing taking place in those roads, especially on a road from Katheri, Kinjo, Gatembe which goes down to Kambau Road, it is taken that it is the Member of Parliament who is not pursuing the promises which the President made. ... view
  • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: I support the President’s Speech on the fight against corruption in this country. We should all join hands to fight corruption because it enriches few and renders the majority of Kenyans poor. I echo what the President said that the fight against corruption will be guided by the rule of law in this country. I pray to my colleagues in this Chamber that when one is mentioned in a corruption scandal, he should not be branded a criminal. In law, one is branded a criminal the moment he is convicted by a court of law. The Members who spoke before ... view
  • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I support the President’s Speech. We should support it generally because it is the best speech I have ever seen since I came to Parliament. The rule of law must guide us when we are fighting corruption. That is all, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the President’s Address. It was a very strong statement that Kenya is a very strong state. This is a fact even though some Members are doubting it like my learned friend has just done. He has said that the people who are suspected to be corrupt are criminals. view
  • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: I stand before this honourable “court” to state that one is branded a criminal only after a conviction by a court of law. I stand to be corrected. view
  • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I apologise, that this is not a court of law. I am very much used to the court being an advocate. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 26 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: (Central Imenti, JP): Hon. Speaker, I rise to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Education the following Question: (i) Is the Cabinet Secretary aware that teachers in Kiagu and Makandanu locations in Central ImentiConstituency are view
