I want to state that there is Circular No. 1 issued by the Office of the President which clearly defines the roles of the Nairobi Metropolitan Development Ministry and that of the Ministry of Local Government. • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I indicated that, first of all, that is a point that has been raised severally by a number of speakers. I want to point out that there were a number of projects that were done prior to that and most of the money has been allocated to complete them. Now, the cycle of budgeting had started much earlier and, by the time I was within the Ministry, those projects had already been identified and funds allocated. But I have undertaken that, come the next financial year, issues of disproportionate allocations will be looked into very carefully. ... view

Local authorities have to ensure that anybody who has been allocated land complies with the conditions of the letter of allocation. Equally, with regard to what he has pointed out about public/private partnerships, this is something that we are looking at and encouraging.
