  • 22 Feb 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the issues that have been raised are quite touching. I understand where the honourable Members are coming from. Because of that, we will give it all the necessary attention and give the response in the next two weeks. Thank you. view
  • 15 Feb 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I stand to firmly support the Bill because it speaks volume to me as a person. I feel it is the only way our nation can overcome the many problems that we are in today. One, when you put into consideration the challenge that comes with climate change which has negative impact on eco-systems, water resources, food and also health. Unless we plan in advance then the years to come many of us or the generation that will come after us will face a lot of challenges and that is why we need to support this. Although, ... view
  • 29 Nov 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I stand to support this petition simply because it touches on one of the very important areas in our system and in our nation. We all know how much our young people are affected anytime that the teachers go on strike and when they do not get what they are supposed to get. Our nation depends on the young people today who are still furthering their studies together with even many of us who are still doing the same. Giving the lecturers their right dues is our responsibility. We should also not be exploited and ... view
  • 29 Nov 2017 in Senate: Thank you Madam Temporary Speaker. I stand to support the Motion that suggests that we operationalize the National Drought Management Authority Act. I support this Motion because I come from this area and I know the effect of drought on the people on the ground. As we speak today, we have lost so many lives in Marsabit County. We have lost children, expectant mothers and our animals. I talk of all our animals being lost because the remaining animals have also been washed away by the floods after the rains. It is an issue that is long overdue. view
  • 29 Nov 2017 in Senate: As I congratulate the Mover, I also want to say that we, as leaders, should empathize with the people on the ground because of the suffering and the pain that they are going through. As we were going out for campaigns, I sympathized with our people. I know of an elderly couple that lost their lives in North Horr Constituency. I know of people in Sololo, Funakumbi and many other places who have lost all their animals. In fact, they are so poor today that they are depressed. It is only that the depression and the stress of the poor ... view
  • 9 Nov 2017 in Senate: Yes, I am following my brother. Thank you Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I stand to support this Motion. I also want to let you know that I almost went to EALA before I came here. That is where I got to know the Senate Majority Leader and all the others. I campaigned seriously. I understand the dilemma and the anxiety that those who are interested are going through at this particular time. I also understand the challenges that the entire East African region is facing because of us. I want to be brief. I could have said much because that ... view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to join my colleagues in sending my condolences on behalf of my family and the people of Marsabit County. It is a very sad thing that happened early this morning. When we heard the sad news, we were all shocked and we could not believe it, especially when we know that the Governor has left a very young family. So, I am here to tell the people of Nyeri County, especially the Senator who is with us and other leaders on the ground, that they are in our prayers and we are with you in ... view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I stand to support this Motion and congratulate Sen. Susan Kihika for bringing it to our attention because waste management is affecting all of us. Thank you for doing this on our behalf. We all represent different counties and we know the effect of this waste on our different counties in terms of human beings and livestock of the pastoralist communities. I remember the polythene paper from my early childhood when we used to lose a lot of cattle to it. Once you slaughter them, you will find that what killed them was not any ... view
  • 11 Oct 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I stand to support this Bill. First of all, I want to appreciate the leaders and also this House for their faith in me by nominating me as one of the Members of the Select Committee. That has given me the opportunity to learn and also to better understand the Bill. It has also given me a good opportunity of interacting with Kenyans who came forward in numbers and expressed their feelings and told us why this needs to be done. In fact I was severally moved by the women who came forward and shared ... view
  • 10 Oct 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I stand to support this Motion for PWDs to get access to medical care. I also want to appreciate the Mover, Sen. Mwaura, who passionately brought this to our attention. The reason I support this Motion is because of my personal experience. I have worked as a church minister in the past where I interacted with many families who have children with disability. In the society and even at family level, many PWDs have been isolated. It is as if we have rejected them in our society and even at the family level, many ... view
