  • 12 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I support the amendment as has been moved. The relief supplies or the support for emergencies in this country has been facing a lot of difficulties. With this amendment by hon. Chachu, I believe everything will be done as per the policy if the Authority will be given more money and all the facilitation that is needed. The support for emergency relief supplies would reach the target people as it has been planned. I support. view
  • 20 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I wish to request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing regarding the transport network in Loriu in Turkana East Constituency. • 20 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker for this chance to seek a clarification on this issue because I am really affected. Since this exercise started last year, the aged in Turkana East Constituency have not received the money. The Chair has said that they were supposed to be identified and given the money. What was the criterion for identifying the beneficiaries? In my constituency, people have been told to travel from Turkana East Constituency; 275 kilometres to Lodwar to go and collect the money. We are targeting people who are 65 years and above. Without public transport in Turkana and other ... view

  • 16 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this chance to contribute to this Bill. First, I would like to thank the Committee for coming up with this important Bill but there are issues which need to be clear. One is that of the royalties. The issue of royalties is not clear in this Bill. In the first place, when we talk of the issue of mineral exploitation in our country we need to know that God has opened ways for those communities which were marginalised during those days. Now, when we come up with such a law, we ... view

  • 16 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: When we talk of these powers being vested in the Cabinet Secretary, it is really something that we need to look at in this Bill. We cannot leave all the power to one person. We never know, a human being is a human being. We need to have a body which can make decisions. People in that body can differ. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, the other issue is that of employment. It does not come out clearly here. All these minerals are found in areas which were marginalised by all the previous regimes. In Turkana East which I represent and ... view
