5 Jul 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me an opportunity to make my contribution. I want to say that I subscribe to absolute freedom on matters of speech. I want to invite the other side of the House to look at what great democracies like the United States of America (USA) have done, particulary, when they crafted an article in the constitution that precluded the Congress from enacting any legislation that would abridge the freedom of speech. Human beings being primates, have a unique quality and behaviour. The behaviour or quality they enjoy in exception or exclusion to ...

5 Jul 2007 in National Assembly:
Thank you very much, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would like to say that I hold freedom as dear to me. If it was not for the freedom that we enjoy; be it freedom of speech or expression, some of us would not be enjoying the privilege that we have in this House. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, what is being proposed by the administration of the day is that we need to have a professional Press and professionalism in journalism. That is all on board. But I want to say that professionalism is only assessed and measured against ...

5 Jul 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, if the Press must be regulated in any way, that regulation must be done by the Press itself or by the standards it sets. It also must be done by the readers who are free to decline to read, listen to or watch anything that they regard as offensive. I know that a free Press is also capable of injuring people. 27 Jun 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker. Sir, this is the second time this Question is coming before the House after a long time. It is not true that there was unanimous agreement on this issue by the DPPLC. Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister knows that, that is corruption arising from the office of the DC, Migori. Does the Assistant Minister know that the DPPLC does not have authority to alienate public land for private use by private developers? Is he aware that, that purported meeting was in contravention of CAP.286 of the Laws of Kenya that he is citing?

27 Jun 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister is totally misled in terms of the information that he has. If you heard him correctly, he has said that he wanted to find out the agenda I have on this issue. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I wanted your guidance. I have a lot of information and correspondence indicating corruption in this matter. I would like to avail the same to the Assistant Minister so that he can come back to this House with sufficient preparation to brief this House on this matter. 2094 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES June 27, 2007 The alleged land that is being ...
