  • 4 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Roads and Public Works:- (a) when the Rongo-Homa Bay Road will be repaired; and, (b) how much money has been set aside for that exercise. view
  • 4 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is very un-serious answer. The road requires Kshs2 billion to be repaired, but only Kshs5 million has been set aside for that purpose! You can see how ridiculous that is! That road is only 32 kilometres long. How can a 32-kilometre road cost Kshs2 billion? What is the cost per kilometre? view
  • 4 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. This road is at the heart of South Nyanza and, perhaps, that is why the economy of that side of the world is doing badly. From the Assistant Minister's answer, is it a definite assurance that we will have this road come the beginning of the Financial Year, 2007/2008? view

  • 28 Mar 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. You have heard the hon. Member talk of a former Minister for Roads and Public Works ensuring that all the contracts for the Mai Mahiu-Lanet Road project were awarded to members of one community. Would I be in order to ask her to substantiate how that happened and whether there is proof to that effect? Who is this former Minister? view
  • 28 Mar 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. You have heard the hon. Member say that, that particular Minister ensured that contracts were given to members of the same community, and I asked for substantiation. If the hon. Member is unable to do so, could she withdraw and apologise to that hon. Member? view
  • 22 Mar 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for according me this opportunity to add my voice to the ongoing debate. I want to agree with my immediate predecessor in congratulating the Minister for Energy for the manner in which he is discharging his obligation. I can see there is an increase in connectivity. I am happy that he is effectively executing the programme that I left when I was the Minister for Energy. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the bit of that programme that the Minister for Energy needs to pay attention to, and if he would be kind enough ... view
