  • 19 Sep 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for this opportunity to also express my views on this very important Bill, which is long overdue. I want to start by congratulation Sen. (Prof) Kamar for this very important Bill that is before us. As it has been said, this Bill was actually passed in the last Senate, but it lapsed in the National Assembly. Therefore, we have to reprocess it. May be it is an opportunity for us to address this problem. The issue of Senate passing Bills which go to the National Assembly, stay there, then eventually, lapse and likewise. Bills that ... view
  • 19 Sep 2023 in Senate: around this. We also look at sign language as a form of communication between people who have speech or hearing impairments. Madam Temporary Speaker, sign language can also be used by people who do not have this challenge. For example, if you are from different languages maybe this can be an opportunity for you to communicate among yourself without having to learn another foreign language. Matters of carbon trading are very weighty and Africa and Kenya have not been in a better position to take advantage of carbon trading because of lack of an appropriate policy and legal framework. So, the amendments proposed in this Bill will actually open the channel for Kenya to maximize its carbon credit potential by ensuring that we create the appropriate path for carbon trading and ... view

  • 10 Aug 2023 in Senate: The issue of county boundaries is very emotive and requires urgent attention by this Senate. Via a Statement, it may not really give us a solution to the problem we want to address. I agree with my colleague, Sen. Mwaruma, that the Bill which is before us in Second Reading, that is the County Boundaries Bill sponsored by Sen. M. Kajwang’, must be fast tracked. view
  • 10 Aug 2023 in Senate: I am very disappointed that this Bill keeps on appearing on the Order Paper, but on today’s Order Paper, it has disappeared. I implore the Senate Business Committee to prioritise this Bill so that we actualise Article 188 of the Constitution and have this matter of boundaries resolved. For example, there is a boundary issue between my county and view
