  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Minister for Medical Services for the manner in which he has handled those Motions this afternoon. Secondly, I urge the Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports to start recognizing the athletes who have brought glory to this nation. He should honor them with monitory award. He should have started with Daniel Rudisha who broke the world record in 800 metres. view

  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, let me take this opportunity to contribute to this very crucial Motion. First, let me thank the Minister for his distinguished service at the Ministry and the Permanent Secretary for his long dedicated service at the Ministry. I also wish to remember the Chair of the Department Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives for his valid and fruitful contribution in this House. On the Kenya Dairy Board, I would urge the Minister to make sure that hawking of milk is not allowed in this country because continued hawking would jeopardise the health of our people. view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: On animal diseases, we note with appreciation the efforts the Minister has made. But I would urge the Treasury to make sure that adequate funds are allocated to this Ministry. For instance, the foot and mouth disease is very common in most areas. If we have to fight it to the end, a lot of resources are required. Lari constituency, which I represent, is also prone to this disease. On private artificial insemination, this has created permanent employment for our youth and subsidy of semen should be extended, so that the common farmer can also access the modern breed and ... view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: On cattle dips, they must be rehabilitated. They were left in dilapidated positions since 1970s and 1980s. We need healthy animals to guarantee milk production. On motorcycles, from the Ministerial Statement this is a very important investment. I would urge the Minister to effect fairness in terms of its distribution. I noted from the Ministerial Statement that they are committing Kshs28 million for rents. What would that translate into within the next 20 years? I would suggest to the Minister that it is important to think of buying land, so that saving can be done by acquiring permanent facility for ... view

  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker Sir, while I support the Minister for this timely Statement, I would like him to indicate to this House what the Ministry will do to hospitals which have incurred heavy losses in the bailout programme so that they can continue offering health-care to Kenyan citizens. Secondly, I noted that, in his contribution, he cited some hospitals that were upgraded. He gave the examples of Meru and Kericho. What criteria does the Ministry apply to qualify such hospitals? view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to make a small observation on this Vote.
