25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support this very important Report. Let me initially indicate that it is important that we commend the Chairman of the Committee for developing very crucial findings and recommendations. If they are implemented, the performance of that industry will greatly improve and even acquire new transformation. With regard to the importation of electricity from neighbouring countries, I would like to say the following: That should not be allowed to happen in this country. We have our own resources. Water levels have improved. Our dams are full and we have geothermal plants. What ...

Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, let me also take this opportunity to thank the Minister for the manner he has presented this Motion this afternoon. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the PS and the staff for discharging their responsibilities in the best manner. I also wish to extend the same congratulations to the chairman of the departmental committee for wonderful findings and recommendations. Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, on hardship allowance, there are areas that need to be designated like Lari Constituency, where the climate is terribly cold. We are 8,500 feet above the sea level. Lari Constituency must be considered as a hardship area in order to attract public service officers and improve the economic and social welfare of the people.

We also need to recognise the senior athletes who participated in the African Athletic Championship held in Nairobi. They emerged in the first position. The civil servants should emulate these people, if, indeed, they want to ...

19 Aug 2010 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. I take the opportunity to also join my colleagues in contributing to this very timely Motion. Let me also thank the Minister for providing very credible leadership in this Ministry. I would also want to extend the same commendation to the Assistant Minister who has been very active in this House and also to the PS who has continued to render very good service to this nation. I would also like to make a few observations. First, let me start with the census. The census was a national exercise. It has caused some kind ...
