  • 6 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, could the Assistant Minister indicate to this House what steps the Ministry is taking to correct the errors that have been noted on the voter register in order to create confidence in the minds of Kenyans? view
  • 30 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, with the admission by the Assistant Minister that he is aware of what is taking place, could he further indicate to this House what concrete steps he is taking to stop further theft of drugs from Government hospitals by those responsible? view
  • 30 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to also contribute to this very important Report. First, I would like to thank the Chairman of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology for steering the Committee to come up with very good recommendations. If implemented, they will be able to improve the learning environment in our universities. I also wish to thank Members of the same Committee for supporting the Chairman in that effort. One thing that I have noted in that Report concerns the election of student leaders at the university. It is almost clear ... view
  • 30 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: security organs to be ready to assist universities particularly when there is a threat directed at them. Another observation that needs to be addressed by the relevant Government departments is the issue of land. Kenyatta University is surrounded by a very hostile community at Kamae. Some of the people at Kamae might have acquired the land in a dubious manner. They are still occupying this land. It is important that the Ministries concerned for example the Ministry of Lands should come out and give assistance in terms of surveying the land. They should work jointly with the Ministry of State ... view
  • 24 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, with the allocation of Kshs17 million to this facility, could the Assistant Minister be specific as to when the works will start? view
  • 23 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, once again, thank you for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very timely Bill that has been presented to the House by Eng. Maina. It is high time that price controls are implemented in this country. Most of the rural folk are not able to afford that small cost of buying a litre of kerosene because the cost of kerosene has really gone up tremendously. It is the wish of the common man to enjoy that commodity. Even the common man is not in a position to afford that staple food; maize and ... view
  • 23 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, you will recall that we allowed some money to be given to the aged in this nation at a rate of Kshs1,500. It is very sad to realize that up to now, only 44 constituencies are enjoying that facility. We want the Minister in charge of that Ministry to make sure that the other 166 constituencies are given those funds. You will also sympathize with the plight of IDPs who have not been settled even now. They cannot access food or kerosene and, therefore, it is be very important that this Bill goes through. The ... view

  • 23 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me the opportunity to contribute on this Vote. First of all, let me thank the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance for ably presenting this Motion to us. As I make my contribution, I wish to note that it is important that we allow the Vote on Account because we need to improve security in this country. The kind of kidnappings we are experiencing in this country should stop. We need the Provincial Administration to acquire new vehicles. We also need to put up houses and other facilities in the ... view
  • 23 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: On the issue of resettlement of IDPs, we still have some IDPs in the camps. We need to approve money so that land can be acquired to settle these innocent people. That money must be allowed to come from this very important Vote. We have also started the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) projects and we need to complete them. We have been talking about the road network in this country and it needs to be improved. view
