  • 22 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, for giving me this moment to support this Bill. At the Departmental Committee on Health, at first we declined to support this Bill, but as an individual, I have come to think about it after seeing the Mover moving it and elaborating on it with the help of the Member for Taita. I have searched my soul and have thought of supporting it. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 22 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: It is the right of every woman to have a child. As hon. Mary Wambui said, we see in the Bible so many women who were scorned by their colleagues for lack of children, but later on they were blessed with children by God. If we go on, we see that Abraham had no son with Sarah until Sarah allowed him to have a baby with their maid. Later on, God blessed them with a child. After being blessed with a child, Sarah decided that she would not love the maid’s child. In this Bill - that is where my ... view

  • 22 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: In normal circumstances, we have seen children coming to ask for inheritance from their fathers. We saw what happened to the late hon. Njenga. I do not agree and so we need protection in this law even when we are supporting it. I think we have to do much during the Third Stage of this Bill. Hon. Speaker, the other issue I have a problem with is the one on those who will carry children for the others. We need to understand that if that baby is to be carried by another woman, what are the obligations of the carrier ... view

  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this important Motion concerning our heroes. For any person, group or nation to move forward, it must know its history. One of the things which may have made this country to lose patriotism is the way Mau Mau freedom fighters were treated. It is good that the British Government have realised the mistake that they made to Kenyans. However, we should ask ourselves: What have we done as a country towards our heroes? They fought for this country and yet they live in abject poverty. They ... view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Let us now take up the medication of Kenneth Njindo Matiba. We need to start showing the way to be praising our heroes. We should not only be sitting here and looking for compensation from somewhere else then we start praising somebody when he is dead. Why should you praise me when I am dead? Give me something now when I am alive and I will praise you. With those few comments, I support the Motion. view
  • 12 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me an opportunity to contribute to this very important Bill. One of the biggest reasons why this country has dragged behind in development is because of corruption which has been here for the last more than 50 years. This has happened when we have the Office of the Auditor-General. This is one of the offices which have not been having teeth to bite because it only recommends. I think now is the time we should give the Auditor-General the teeth to bite. During the Anglo Leasing saga a report was brought to ... view
  • 12 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, some of the issues which have been given in the Bill are very important. We can see more powers being given to this office to safeguard the interests of Kenyans by way of giving information. However, I have an issue on concealing of information. Some of the information which is being concealed belongs to the Ministry which is concerned with security. There was a time when our security apparatus bought Mahindra vehicles. If they can conceal such information, how will this Parliament be able to implement its role of being a watchdog of public affairs? view
  • 12 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I oppose that. Even if there will be concealing of important information, this House should know which areas, where it happened and how to curb it. It is not enough to say that the information should not go to the public. view
