  • 18 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Assistant Minister for giving a fairly satisfactory answer. As I do so, I want to thank the Assistant Minister for accepting that these projects were completed some two years ago and that what they have been waiting for are transformers. They were expecting the transformers in November, 2009. Now we are in the middle of November. Can the Assistant Minister assure this House that the transformers are now available in the country and that he is going to install them so that the people who are supposed to be served by ... view

  • 3 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Medical Services when his Ministry will construct a surgical theatre and provide other necessary facilities and equipment at Matiliku District Hospital to reflect its new status as a district hospital. view
  • 3 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am rather taken aback by the Minister’s answer when he says that the health facility in Matiliku is not a district hospital. Indeed, Matiliku District Hospital is the only district hospital in Nzaui District which was created in 2007. This district was not among the 100 new districts created last year. I would like the Minister to tell us if, indeed, this is not a district hospital, under what circumstances the current District Medical Officer, Dr. Ndambuki who is operating in this district was posted to that hospital. view
  • 3 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, as I said earlier, Matiliku District Hospital serves a population of close to 200,000 people, and it is the only big facility in that district. Out of the Kshs300 million that the Minister has this financial year, how much is he allocating to improve the facilities and make this hospital operational? view
  • 2 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I would like to support this Motion as amended. Potato is a major crop and this Motion seeks to cure the perennial food shortage in this country. As the Mover has said, potatoes are the second most popular food in this country. You only need to go to most of these schools during visiting days and see what parents carry for their sons and daughters. You will not see muthokoi or ugali although those are the popular foods. However, you will find most parents carrying chips or boiled potatoes for their sons and daughters. This enhances ... view
  • 1 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Roads:- (a) why Athiani Bridge in Kitise Location, which was constructed in 2008 to connect Kathozweni District and Kibwezi District, has not been launched; (b) when it will be launched; and, (c) how much money has been set aside for compensating the farmers whose land was acquired for construction of the bridge. view
  • 1 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this Assistant Minister is one of those serious Ministers who give answers, but today the answers he has given to parts “a” and “b” of the Question are incorrect. I was in the constituency and I confirm to this House that this bridge has not been put to use. So, I would like him to state when this bridge was put to use. view
  • 1 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, now that the Assistant Minister says that he wants to clarify further this information, I also want to tell him that this bridge has been put on people’s private land. So, I would request that the Assistant Minister goes to the ground to verify this position. In the meantime, I would like this Question deferred so that it can be answered again when he gets proper information regarding the bridge. view
  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government:- view
