Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Assistant Minister for appreciating that this is an important project which needs to be expanded. As you can realize, Sultan Hamud police cells were constructed during the colonial time and were meant to hold a maximum of 13 inmates. On a normal day, the cells are now holding two or three times that capacity. At times, we have lost inmates as a result of congestion and being put in inhuman conditions.

Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has tried to answer this Question. However, this is a simple Question which he has avoided to answer. Why did the Government close the District Treasury in Nzaui? The creation of districts is a demand by the wananchi, so that services are brought closer to them. Why did the District Commissioner close the District Treasury?
