  • 30 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I object this amendment. First of all, I believe it is unconstitutional. If we are not careful, we will open a door for people who blackmail others for all the wrong reasons. Honestly, how can you just come and say you suspect so and so and you put the investigative resources into that activity? The most important thing is you cannot have reasonable grounds without evidence. In criminal law or any law that affects somebody’s rights, there must be evidence. We cannot do things politically. What the Leader of the Majority Party is saying is that ... view
  • 30 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: I think it is important that it goes on the HANSARD. I wanted to go on record that I was elected on a The National Alliance Party (TNA) ticket. They dissolved their party and joined an amorphous party, which we did not even understand what it is for. The law is very clear. I had a choice to either go to the new party or remain in another party. What I did was my constitutional right and I believe it was the right decision. view
  • 19 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I would like to join my colleagues in supporting the Report. Although some sentiments have been expressed, we should be fair to all Kenyans. It is not right to shame them on national television because they did not appoint themselves. Whereas this might not be the real face of Kenya, at least, this time, they have tried to spread the opportunities. However, we should be given an audit of appointments, so that we do not have names of people from one or two communities appearing in each and every list that is brought here. That ... view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I thank Hon. Birdi for bringing this Petition. As Members may recall, just a few weeks ago, there was a very bad faceoff between the Maasai people and the Chinese because of that problem. Hon. Speaker, what is worrying us as Kenyans is the new way of doing things such that the rights of Kenyans have been delegated to the periphery for the benefit of foreigners and, more so, the Chinese people . It is unfortunate that whereas all the resources are going back to China, even what can be done by our people is taken ... view
  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a name that does not belong to me. I will also like to thank the Member who has brought this Motion. In fact, we know that our children are the most precious asset we have for the future of the country. We cannot play with their lives because it means the country will be dead. We should not just talk about religious leaders or whoever else. We must start from home because, at the end of the day a child is, first and foremost, moulded by the parent before we hand ... view
  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: doing that? So, we must look for job opportunities because when children see people who have gone to university without jobs and are alcoholics, how will you tell them to go to school and be good? If they are hungry and lacking, how do you expect them to stop doing things to their bodies to get what they need? So, we must look at it in a holistic manner and not blaming them. Teachers are doing a good job, but they are frustrated. They are not paid their salaries. People retired in the last 20 years and nobody has ever ... view
  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: I believe that families that are tattered emotionally affect their children. A religious nation is a good and healthy nation and it supports children. I believe our children are very important to us and we must protect them in all ways. view
  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: I support the Motion. view
  • 4 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would like to join my colleagues in supporting this debate. In fact, I am happy to see it on the Floor of the House. The first time the KQ issue was brought to Parliament was when it was before the Senate. I did not know what the Motion had to do with the Senate because I thought KQ is a national corporation. It has nothing to do with counties. Therefore, the Motion was misplaced and the delay has cost a lot. The loss is unimaginable because we are talking of about Kshs74.5 billion ... view
  • 4 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: When you look at the destruction of KQ, you are looking at the destruction of this country. You are looking at the destruction of our pride, our jobs and anything and everything that this country stands for. When we used to call KQ the “Pride of Africa” after we lost the East African Community (EAC) and had our own airline, we were going somewhere. It is so hurting to see other countries like Tanzania buying new aircraft all the time. Air Rwanda and Ethiopian Airlines are doing the same. I believe we should look at these issues. Let us start ... view
