The most important thing is that the issue of party hopping has been removed. That was the most contentious and thorny issue simply because a few people were trying to serve their own selfish interests at the expense of many people. • 25 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: The other important issue is limiting the number of voters in a polling station. Five hundred voters will be a good number. This is because people are not able to vote within the specified time in most cases. The other important thing is the issue of announcing the results at the polling station to prevent doctoring of results. So, for purposes of making the electoral system work in Kenya, they have done a good job. I request my colleagues to support this Report. So, I would like to give my colleagues a chance. I believe that the criterion being used now might be a bit fair. Originally, ranking of schools was used as a gimmick to market some schools at the expense of others. Rural schools have been left out. The equipment or the facilities available in those schools are inferior. That has been an abuse. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology should be very careful in the way it formulates the regulations. view

This is a very important Motion and I commend my colleague who brought it. It is more important to us who are from pastoralist communities. As they say, water is life. • 3 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: The other issue is on health. We have seen our communities suffer from preventable diseases like cholera and jigger infestation. If we can provide clean and safe water to our communities especially the young and the growing population, then we will contain those preventable diseases. We should look at the financial frameworks to enable us access water. It beats logic for us to supply electricity and food but not water. I support the Motion. view

I would also like to commend the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Lands because they have done a tremendous job and the Committee should be congratulated. This is a constitutional Bill.
