  • 21 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I also want to add my voice to this very shameful thing going on in our country. • 21 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: responsibility to protect its citizens and their property. When we see something like this, we realise that we are losing our country mile by mile. Somebody said that we are heading to a failed State status. When we cannot control security in Narok, Baringo, Laikipia and all over, where are we heading? When a Government takes its troops to Somalia, they are killed as flies, many people are dying of hunger, insecurity and even lack of medical attention because of the strike by doctors, then you wonder what our priorities are as a country. At the end of the day, ... view
  • 17 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for this opportunity. Like my colleagues, I would like to commend the Committee for what they have done. The IEBC is a very important component of our democracy. More than that, it is actually pacifying factor. It is a pacifying and unifying organisation, as I might call it. It is actually an umpire. If a mistake is made by the said IEBC, of course the country will burn. We have had experiences before. The history of this country is well known. What happened in 1992, 1997 and 2007/2008 which was averted in 2013 is something that ... view

  • 17 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Kina. We have seen a lot of marginalisation going on. We have seen a lot of purging of the Masai community. Just the other day, two principal secretaries were removed for no reason. Just the other day, the Governor of Central Bank was supposed to be ole Sirma. He was removed unceremoniously yet he was number one. Now we see Tukero being removed again just like all those others. The issue is that there will be a time of reckoning. There will be explanations that must be given. Let people laugh. Let them say what they think but they will ... view

  • 1 Dec 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, personally, I think this was a bad law because I think the IEBC should be a neutral arbiter. It should not be involved in party politics. The other issue which I am raising on this particular provision is that it is compelling because it says “the Commission shall conduct elections once…” But the question is: Supposing 100 parties do not qualify to field candidates, would that not give the IEBC leeway to decide whether it is worthwhile or not? That is something that should be left; there should be some independence. view
  • 30 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I would like to support the Chairman’s position. At the end of the day there is a situation where there are two entities; the individuals employed by the organisation and the organisation itself. There must be that distinction. So, I believe the co-operation of the organisation will not suffer because of the activities of individual employees. I think it is right. view
