  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to present this Petition, which I had presented in last Session but it lapsed because of time, regarding funding of co-curricular activities in public primary schools. I, the undersigned, on behalf of primary school parents, draw the attention of the House to the following: THAT, Article 43(1)(f) of the Constitution of Kenya and Section 28 of the Basic Education Act, 2013, entitles every Kenyan child to free and compulsory basic education and obligates the state and parents to facilitate access to quality basic education; THAT, co-curricular activities are an integral part of the education ... view

  • 12 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for this opportunity. I totally disagree with the sentiments of the Departmental Committee on Health on the issues that they have raised in this Report. I was a Member of the Departmental Committee on Health in the last Parliament for about two years. Even at the time, this issue of Dr. Soni and her clinics was a thorn in the flesh. My personal observation on this issue is that this is personal vendetta and business rivalry. That is what has been brought to this House so that Members of this House can spend parliamentary The electronic ... view

I will not disagree on anything that is not in the Report of the Committee. The Committee has given us recommendations. I will also talk about the things that the Committee pointed out as observations during the period they interrogated the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board specialists and the Ophthalmological Society of Kenya (OSK). Let me begin with the first recommendation where the Committee recommends that the board cancels the recognition of this doctor. We must begin by asking ourselves ... view
  • 12 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: There is no complaint that has been presented to the board. The Report is very clear. You have read it. There is nowhere in this Report where it mentions anyone who has made an official complaint to the board. The Committee is saying that there is a problem, but there is no complainant. The fourth recommendation is that KMPDB should devise strategies to address the shortfall of specialists, ophthalmologists and accredited institutions. The interesting thing is that we are discussing a Report where we are trying to strike out one from the register of only 106, and then we are ... view
