3 Oct 2018 in National Assembly:
I have also noticed that there is a problem or difficulty in getting employed despite the fact that some of them have very good papers. Those who choose to look for employment have barriers. We have this barrier of the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and yet, you have not been employed. We have a barrier in the name of Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI). It costs money which we do not have. There is a barrier by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). Even before you have worked anywhere, you are supposed to ...

I propose quick solutions because my time is running out. The first one is that we find a way of training our youth and creating employment.

20 Sep 2018 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker for this opportunity. Today, I stand here as a proud Member of the Opposition of this country in the National Assembly. I speak with a heavy heart, but a very clear conscience. The citizens of this country have spoken. They have been speaking for the last two to three weeks. Their position is very clear. We are between a rock and a hard place. How did we get there? This House passed an Appropriations Bill in which, we spent money. Later on, when the Finance Bill came to this House, we made very deliberate attempts to ...

20 Sep 2018 in National Assembly:
aware also about the corruption that goes on in our ministries, the NYS and the Ministry of Health. We need to figure out solutions. First and foremost, I support the reduction of the Budget. I wish that the Budget and Appropriations Committee had reduced the Budget to a level where we do not require to further tax Kenyans so that we can meet that Budget. Even as I support this Motion, I wish it was more than what we are reducing. I wish we further reduced it so that we do not seem like we want to save money for ...

22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly:
First, I want to thank Hon. Janet for coming up with this Motion because she is carrying out her representation role. That is what this House is meant for. When we got our Independence so many years ago, we swore to fight ignorance, poverty and diseases. We are still here talking about diseases so many years later. Are we winning this fight or we are still going to continue fighting? It is important for us to fight against diseases as a nation. Our current Constitution provides for the highest sustainable standards of health and also free emergency treatment. We must ...

22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly:
One of the four development pillars of the Jubilee administration is the provision of universal healthcare. As a House, it is important to support the development agenda. When we talk about universal healthcare, we talk about provision of health services. We cannot afford to have diseases that defeat the system. That is one of the reasons it is important that we support the Motion. It says that we subsidise costs which relate to fistula surgery. When we talk about the acquisition of universal healthcare, it means that those who can afford it to pay for it and those who cannot ...

22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly:
It is also important to do away with people who are suffering in silence. The problems which they have are embarrassing, so, they hide them. As we deal with this, we should carry out very serious public awareness, so that we can ensure that we remove stigma associated with this disease. This is not something that one wishes to have. It is a disease like any other. From what I have heard from the experts who have spoken before me, a lot of people hide the disease because of the stigma. They do not want it to be exposed. So, ...
