2 Mar 2016 in National Assembly:
I want to quote Article 68 of the Constitution, which gives Parliament powers to legislate on land. In Article 68, the Constitution partly says:-

2 Mar 2016 in National Assembly:
“Parliament shall – (a) revise, consolidate and rationalise existing land laws; … (c) (iv) to protect, conserve and provide access to all public land;” As a Member of Parliament from Machakos County, it is in my best interest to ensure that we protect that land and ask the NLC to withdraw the advertisements in which they purport to be giving away community land. The community is up in arms against that move. I will do my bit in fighting to protect the interests of the community. I urge my colleagues to ensure that we go through this Bill keenly during ...

2 Mar 2016 in National Assembly:
Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I have observed that the people who have had an opportunity to contribute come from areas where there is plenty of food. I thank you for giving me this opportunity to speak for those of us who receive aid. Though it is coming late, I would have opposed the clause of reducing the size of the package. In the same meeting, I also talked to some women who also shared experiences of being made ...

2 Mar 2016 in National Assembly:
As a Member of Parliament who has accepted to defend the Constitution, I support that IDs come to our people in the nearest and easiest possible way. When IDs are issued in the city and bearing in mind the size of this country, there are a lot of delays in getting them. It is important that this function is decentralised and IDs are issued at the regional level, so that people can get IDs in the fastest way possible. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, since the advent of multipartyism, every election in Kenya has been contested. Every time after elections, people ...

2 Mar 2016 in National Assembly:
There are many other benefits of having IDs including carrying out Mpesa transactions and looking for job opportunities, which the Mover has clearly articulated. I support and urge all Members to agree with us that we decentralise issuance of IDs.

25 Feb 2016 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I, the undersigned, on behalf of concerned residents of Kathiani Constituency, draw the attention of the House to the following:- THAT, construction and maintenance of an elaborate road network, including bridges is an essential catalyst for economic development and investment in any region. THAT, Thwake Bridge, a key bridge that links Kathiani and Kangundo regions was swept away by El-Nino rains which pounded various parts of the country in 2015. THAT, economic activities in Kathiani and Kangundo regions have been disrupted since businessmen and residents have been compelled to incur higher costs of transport via longer ...
