However, at the end of the day, I say this with full knowledge that I sat in Serena Hotel and saw the difficulties that we had during the post-election violence. The promulgation of the 2010 Constitution was as a result of the events and discussions that enumerated out of the Agenda 4 which generated so much interest for Kenyans and gave us a wonderful Constitution of Kenya, 2010. view

  • 1 Dec 2020 in Senate: the marginalized groups, for example, the youth and the county governments that were not receiving enough resources. For me, the take away in BBI is the 35 per cent of the national revenue to be shared with the county governments. It will not be on the basis of the recently adopted accounts of 14 or 15 per cent which was little money going to the county governments. It will be based on the recently adopted Auditor-General’s accounts. view
  • 1 Dec 2020 in Senate: The second take away is the youth commission which will cascade all the way to the ward level. The third take away is the Ward Fund which we all fought for in the Senate. We agreed and it went to the National Assembly who could not agree. Fortunately, it has found its way to the Constitution. I am quite happy that it will be something that we will live for.   • 24 Nov 2020 in Senate: Consideration of the Auditor-General’s Report and Interrogation of Audit Reports: During the period and as indicated above, the Committee approved very rigorous sitting schedules for the period commencing 1st July- 1st December, 2020. In the Sitting schedule, the Committee lined up for interrogation all the 47 county executives for the first time. For the first time since inception of devolution, the Committee also lined up for interrogation all the 47 county assemblies. view
