  • 17 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I think God has brought me back at this time. I was going to talk about something else, but the care and protection of the elderly is very close to my heart. I support the Bill very much. When I was young, I proposed a Bill in the United Kingdom, on the protection and care of the elderly in society, which I am very proud to say was passed. We want to go the same way in Kenya. In Kisumu East, we have the Sasa Fund which takes care of the elderly, who come ... view
  • 17 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: money because the elderly cannot get it themselves. It is a very important thing. I suggest that even in our NG-CDF, we should have some funds dedicated towards the care and protection of the elderly in our society. The elderly are the mainstay of our society. If we cannot take care of them, our fathers and mothers, we have no right to be part and parcel of that society. This is one of the major pillars of our society. In the Luo tradition, the elderly are like our fathers and mothers. They are our link to the past and the ... view

  • 11 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I want to correct my brother here. The Constitution does not reserve positions for any distinguished persons. This is against the Constitution of this country. You cannot say “a’’, “b’’ and “c” are marginalised. It will not be right for us to remove this clause from the Bill. Let us allow this clause to remain and then, administratively, if there are two people at the same level and one is from a marginalised community and the other is not, the vetting committee will decide. view

He was a great man and a very humble leader. The interactions that I had with him, not only in APNAC-Kenya, but also in the Muslim Parliamentary Caucus, has enlightened me quite a lot about the ability of this great leader. We shall miss him and pray that, inshallah, the Almighty God will give him peace in heaven. Amen. Thank you. view
  • 5 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I am pleased that this particular matter has come for our consideration. The difference between Singapore, Malaysia and other economies is the fact that organisations and business is easy to transact. It is very easy to create wealth in some of those countries.
