  • 13 May 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I seriously differ with the answer given by the Assistant Minister. On the contrary, there is an increase in the locations and sub- locations that illicit brewing is taking place. The youth are being affected. Were these show cause letters written one day? What action has been taken against those chiefs and assistant chiefs? Are they collectively being disciplined? How many chiefs and assistant chiefs have received those letters? Who has been found guilty of that offence, so that he can be dismissed? Show cause letters are not effective. view

  • 6 May 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to speak and support the Motion on the President’s Speech. I have reasons to believe that the President gave us a very moving Speech. He touched on various issues of concern to our nation which, if implemented according to the way he was talking, our country would move forward. view
  • 6 May 2009 in National Assembly: However, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, there are issues that have been dogging our people for quite a long time. The education policy was not mentioned in that Speech and yet, the Education Act has not been revised for quite some time. Actually, right now, the Education Act is outdated. There have been bodies, committees and commissions that are running education and yet, they are not catered for in the Education Act. It is time that the education of this country is taken very, very seriously because some of the problems we are encountering are as a result of our education ... view
  • 6 May 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, the President spoke very well by saying that the Coalition Government is making good progress in managing the challenges that are facing this country. However, looking at the reality, I think the opposite is true because, one day, we see the Coalition partners eating together, posing for photographs and another time, we see the Coalition partners in public rallies complaining and demanding serious consultations and yet, they come to the public and say: “We are consulting.” The message they send to the public is completely opposite of what they want to portray to us when they ... view
