• 14 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: matatizo mengi. Kuna umaskini na tunatakikana tuangalie kwamba watu wanapata matibabu badala ya kuambiwa waende watafute matibabu pahali pengine. Tukijadili hii Hoja, tunatakikana tuifanye sheria katika nchi yetu ili tuanze kufikiria ni namna ipi tutainua viwango vya mahospitali ili tuwe na hopitali ya Level 5 katika kila kaunti; iwe na vifaa vya kisasa, dawa na ile huduma ya madaktari kutumwa huko. While I agree with the sentiments of the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education and Research, we sometimes also need extreme measures to address some of these issues. I think sometimes the Government does not take security matters seriously because we have seen teachers being flushed out from those areas. We have seen religious profiling whereby people who do not belong to a particular religious segment are flushed out and sometimes even executed. We find that they are looking at teachers who were trained six or seven years back; those are the people they recruit yet there are teachers coming out of colleges almost every year. We need to look at how we can improve the ratio of pupil to teacher in our schools. We must also address the issue of security to enable children go to school and enable teachers who are recruited to teach in other parts of the country be safe. • 21 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also want to support the appointment of Members to this Committee. It is a very important Committee. I had even applied to be a Member but I found that I was not included. The point I want to raise is on the Members in this House who have special needs. The services of those Members are not properly addressed. For example, when you go around Parliament, there are places we cannot even access. I have talked about Continental House and the gym. Sometimes I have to leave Parliament to go for physiotherapy. We have a ... view

As we go to the election of the EALA Members, we should look at various issues, including regional balance. We have some nominated Members who were in the last Parliament. We know their capacity. We know those who have been nominated, both men and women. Most of them have made it to this list. I must congratulate them. Whoever will make it to the EALA will be representing this country.
