Consultation with the county government in the new constitutional dispensation is just because the county government plays a certain role in the Constitution. Addition of those other words will just complicate the Bill. I support the amendment. view

We do not know the objective to be achieved by these amendments in the Bill. Clause 46 of the Bill charges the Public Service Commission (PSC) with the mandate of appointing commissioners to an independent entity like the National Land Commission (NLC). There are many political parties in this House that have Members of Parliament, MCAs and even some elected governors and senators and yet the threshold, as provided in the law, excludes them from benefiting from this public funding. This amendment will allow political parties that have sponsored members who have won elections and are members of the National Assembly, Senate or as mentioned in the amendment, to broaden the support for political parties and also move away from those rogue party leaders who hold political parties to ransom.
