  • 29 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: I support this Motion and congratulate the hon. Chris Wamalwa; I urge him to go a step further and bring a Bill to this House, so that we create more space for heroes of this country. view
  • 10 Sep 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I am equally a Member of this House. So, when I am given a chance, there should be no murmurs. I wish to support this Report. I will pick up from where my colleague has left. People with disability have been discriminated against in Government appointments. Appointment after appointment, we are missing the opportunity to serve this country. I represent two constituencies in this House. My first constituency is Westlands. They are the people who elected me. My second constituency is the voiceless who are the people with disability. I am very proud of that. When I see ... view
  • 20 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I would like to seek a clarification from the Chair. He has mentioned something to do with the distribution of sunscreen lotions to people with albinism. Is that being distributed only in Nairobi, or throughout the country? This is because people with albinism are spread all over the country. Even within Nairobi, there are people with albinism who have no access to this facility. Where is it being distributed? I know that this is something that they require on a daily basis. If it is not properly distributed, then most of them will suffer. When ... view
  • 20 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. From the outset, I wish to support this Motion. Promotion of the boda boda business is the best way to empower the youth, if the Government is serious about youth empowerment. It is also a way of creating jobs for our young people. Most of the young riders do not own the motorbikes. The motorbikes are owned by other people. The youth are just riders. They are treated in a very crude manner. Sometimes, they are paid Kshs100 for a day’s job. As leaders, we should put a regulatory policy in place. The Government ... view
  • 20 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: That is a very good way of trying to remove our youth from criminal activities and from the streets. That is because many a times, when we do not harness the energy that our youth have, they use it in the negative way. view
  • 20 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, if we do not regulate the boda boda means of transport at this early stage; if we leave it to go on the way it is going, it will end up the way the matatu industry has; whereby there is a lot of indiscipline and the police use that as a “cash cow”. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, sometimes--- view
  • 13 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I wish to request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs regarding the vetting of judicial officers by the Judges and Magistrates Vetting Board. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 13 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. view
  • 13 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. From the outset, I would like to register my support for this Bill because many a times we have had parents who sire children but do not take responsibility. By bringing this amendment, it is going to give a child equal right of access to both parents and both parents taking equal responsibility for the child. view
  • 13 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, it takes two to tango. So, if a child is born in this world it means there were two people responsible for that child. So, when one parent runs away and leaves the responsibility of bringing up that child to the other one it makes nonsense of the parental care. This is what we are emphasising as a society that family values must be paramount. The child’s rights are paramount as the Mover of this Bill had said earlier on. view
