  • 5 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Yes, hon. Deputy Speaker. What the Senate has done is to use their experience - because most of them are Members who are very experienced in legislation - to enrich this Bill and have, if you look at the definitions, expanded and cleaned some few errors here and there. I think it is something that we should adopt and move forward because it is not going to alter anything substantial in the original Bill as passed by this house. Therefore, I support and look forward to moving with speed so that the people who are targeted to benefit from this ... view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I also wish to support this important Motion by m he Wangamati, who is himself a second liberation freedom fighter. As we look and fight for the compensation of the families that suffered injustices during the colonial time, the Government that took over from the colonial government and the succeeding governments have not done any better, because most of these victims are people who are known. We also know their families. Most of these families were displaced from their farms. To date, most of these people are still squatters, yet we are looking for ... view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: the Mau Mau yet we have freedom fighters who include those who protected us from slave traders. Koitalel arap Samoei from the Rift Valley and others are among those who protected us. We know well that there was Lenana from the Maasai community and others who created situations that made it difficult for the British Government to move towards western Kenya. That is why we are saying that compensation is something that must be done immediately. Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I support this Motion. view
  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. On behalf of the people of Westlands Constituency and all the people of Kenya, I wish to condole with the family of the late J.J. Kamotho, one of the greatest men of the former ruling party, KANU. Hon. Speaker, the late hon. J.J Kamotho is a resident of Westlands Constituency, just like the other two hon. Members who have passed on. I was so touched by the way he performed his duties as Secretary General of KANU; he did it with zeal. If everybody performed his or her duties the way the late hon. J.J Kamotho ... view
  • 27 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I have been a victim of this mishandling by these security officers sometimes back. When I am travelling, I have been put through some ridiculous body searches. When you ask them if it can be done in a humane manner, they subject you to a situation that seems to be like “you must obey their orders.” This amendment is very good and I support it. view
  • 27 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I wanted to contribute to the earlier clause, and not this one. view
  • 27 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, with regard to that Clause, I concur with hon. Abdikadir. The clause is very clear. It talks of “a child arrested”. We have to be specific with the wording. If we start reading things in the way the Chair is saying, then we are introducing something that is not in this clause. So, it must be read with the provision in the Constitution in mind, so that a child is not deprived of the rights that are given under the Constitution. We need to re-look into this clause properly. view
  • 27 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I support this amendment. It is quite in order the way the Chairman has moved it and I support. view
  • 27 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I support this amendment. I want to clarify on the issue of representation of the National Council of Persons with Disabilities. Under the Persons with Disabilities Act, the umbrella body for the people with disabilities is the National Council of Persons with Disabilities. Therefore their presence here is a clear representation of--- view
  • 27 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Therefore their presence here is a clear representation of this sector of the population. I support this amendment and the inclusion of this National Council of Persons with Disabilities is very well captured. I support. view
