• 15 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: I stand here to support this Motion because coconut farmers in Kilifi need to be supported. We need to diversify and widen the scope of growing coconuts. There are areas where coconut farming has been neglected. Coconut farming is not done as well as it ought to be done. When we sit in this House after being elected from different constituencies, we become national leaders. We do not just confine ourselves to be vibrant and active politicians. view
• 15 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: I come from a sugarcane growing area, but when there are issues to do with farmers who grow other crops, I also support them. It is my duty, as a national leader, to stand up for all the farmers of this country. We need to support farmers in the coastal region, so that this can be an industry in itself. Oils from coconut can be used in this country as well as exported to the entire East and Central Africa region. view

I am a sugarcane farmer and I understand the problems that we have in the sugar industry. If we are in a hurry to pass the Report without making the necessary amendments, it will not be of any help to Kenyans. We need a proper audit of the sugar industry. • 9 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: As much as we are shouting here in the House, we have people in western Kenya who cannot afford a meal. Will we provide food to our people by shouting? There is poverty in my constituency. Parents cannot take their children to school because the sugar subsector has collapsed as a result of illegal importation of sugar. We stand here in pain. view
