  • 4 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: We also found out that our products outside there are not getting proper marketing. Our Kenyan tea is being adulterated and downgraded by blenders who blend our tea and reduce its good quality. It is my sincere request to this House that we look at improving and supporting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our embassies to have officers who are in charge of trade. Surprisingly, the staff in these missions and the staff in our offices in Nairobi here are not properly coordinated. The complaints we got outside there are that when a letter is written to our Kenyan ... view
  • 4 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: The other issue that is now putting a lot of Kenyans in the Diaspora into problems is the issue of getting a new passport. Many Kenyans outside there are actually asking serious questions as to how they can acquire the new generation passport. They are being told to come back to Kenya for fingerprints. It is high time we saw how we can improve our missions and embassies worldwide in order for them to have the fingerprints or biometric passport taken and be sent here for them not to spend a lot of money coming to this country for the ... view
  • 4 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: Ministry of Interior and Co-ordination of National Government to speed up the issuance of the same by giving them priority. The other issue is that of our Kenyans who are incarcerated, are in prisons or have been detained for whatever reasons outside there. We found out that ladies and gentlemen who left this country for good intentions to work outside have found themselves with… view
  • 20 Sep 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. What is at play here is parliamentary democracy guided by its own rules. Under Article 95 of our Constitution, which is very clear on the mandate we have today of representation, legislation and oversight, one cannot believe what we have seen here today when Members took a vote and there was an equivocal “No” in the whole House. view
  • 20 Sep 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I am a first-time Member and if this is how Parliament is going to be conducted, the public there will not have confidence in us. I wonder why we have gadgets before us showing the programme of voting. We voted and it totalled to 352; rigging which surprised us. view
  • 20 Sep 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, the vote was taken and the “Noes” had it. As a Member of Parliament for Mosop, I cannot stand this. I have been sent here to represent my people and I must be given my position to state it clearly whether “Ayes” or “Noes”, but not what we have seen here. Games are being played and party positions are here, but it has come to Members’ position to realise where they want to vote. I have seen Members’ position to decide where to cast their vote. I have seen Members’ cards being taken away including my neighbour’s here. ... view
  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very important Motion of approving the members to IPOA. The Constitution and our Standing Orders provide for the procedure of coming up with The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: a petition for or against any Member nominated by the President. It is stipulated very clearly and it is a practice that we have all followed. For one to be vetted, he or she must have been cleared by the relevant authorities. Parliament put up an advert last week calling for anyone with any petition against the nominees before us to submit it. According to what I hear from the Chairman, no adverse memoranda on the eight nominees were presented. It will be unfair to single out a single member on some belief that someone never performed well in an ... view
  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: so. It must be supported by all of us. Let us support them by giving them good housing, good vehicles and a conducive environment for them to perform. I urge my fellow Members that you may not like some individuals but this is Kenya. Let us appreciate diversity. Let us approve those eight nominees of the President who have been vetted by the able Committee of this House in totality so that the Commission can be properly constituted to start work immediately. view
  • 8 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. As a Member of this House, I got the opportunity, through the vetting process, to understand the nine nominees designate for the embassies provided therein. I came to learn that it is good for us to do a good job for this country so that, at one time, one can be rewarded. One can be in one position today and tomorrow, you can be in another. I came to learn of few things from the interviews we did. I came to learn that the persons who hold offices get into those ... view
